The last time we saw the Pink Panther was in Pink Pajamas, in which he was desperate for a safe, warm place to get his head down. Nothing has changed as in this cartoon he stows away in Gamble's department store for a cozy night.

But the night janitor is suspicious of their uninvited guest and ends up being the butt of old Pinky's usual jokes and tricks. It's pretty funny stuff as both of them race from department to department trying out avoid and outwit each other.

The Pink Panther is very cool and very cute and this is one funny cartoon. But can someone explain the title to me?

I've read the REAL story behind this controversial picture . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . but since this site feels that you can't handle the truth, I'm not sure how much of it I can share with you without being censored, squelched and totally stymied, even though no one is qualified to review, comment upon or even watch WE GIVE PINK STAMPS without knowing the background behind this pink panther episode. Perhaps if I mention "baseball gloves and tulip bulbs," my First Correction right to Free Speech will be taken away, similarly to how my colleague was muzzled. Maybe mention of the year "1896" is enough to tick off the Evil Bots of Censorship--I'm not a mind reader, let alone a cyber shrink. Possibly it is forbidden to make any reference here to the U. S. Postal Service. If it is, you won't even be permitted to read this.

According to the internet, there never was . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . such a thing as "Pink Stamps," despite this title WE GIVE PINK STAMPS. However, S&H Green Stamps was the largest and longest lasting of America's legacy stamp programs. Founded by Tom Sperry and Shelley Byron Hutchinson in 1896, this company was distributing more stamps than the U. S. Postal Service by the 1960's. S&H sold the stamps to unaffiliated stores, which in turn doled them out to establish "customer loyalty" among shoppers buying things. The people of America had to lick 1,200 stamps to fill up one booklet of stamps. If a batch of stamps fell on the floor, recipients had to decide whether or not it was still palatable to tongue them, as WE GIVE PINK STAMPS suggests. Once they had a wheelbarrow full of filled S&H booklets, they had to truck them them down to an S&H store to exchange them for baseball gloves and tulip bulbs.

Pink Panther Odyssey Part III

My Pink odyssey rolls on and this third effort settles into a rather detached surrealist rhythm as our louche hero gads about a closed department store to the annoyance of a janitor. The meaning behind the name is rather elusive and the recurring gag of the lion skin rug doesn't quite work but it's another Frelengtacular mini-lark all the same.

Driving A Poor Custodian Crazy
ccthemovieman-115 May 2007
It's the Pink Panther torment a night-time department store custodian. I guess our hero is a kind of homeless type of guy who hangs out wherever he can find a warm, indoor spot. In this case, he's lying comfortably in the rug section.

Problems (and some very good sight gags) start when the Panther goes inside a tiger-skin and the janitor gets lazy, trying to sweep the dust and stuff inside the tiger's mouth. The PP shoves the dust right back at him. From that point, the Panther, undetected by the employee, drives the poor man crazy, appearing and re-appearing in different departments of the store, including the escalators.

In the meanwhile, the PP takes a bath in a washing machine, and tries out a few other things in the store such as the "Miracle chair." Most of them are have pretty funny results.

Overall, this was very entertaining.

We give pink stamps review by rocky and yipper
RockyAndYipper26 January 2019
We give pink stamps is the 3rd pink panther cartoon flick and it is good, I guess.

I like the idea of pink trying to hide from the little man, but having fun at the same time, but I could have been done better, but I don't know how.

The music is great and the animation is solid, but I feel this was a little bit of a bore, kind of.

The little bits of the panther messing around with the store products are neat, but they are a little boring.

Overall I give it a 5/10 stars, for being a good concept but executed kinda poorly.

Thoroughly entertaining, though the title is a head-scratcher
TheLittleSongbird3 April 2013
The Pink Panther is an iconic character, and there is much charm and fun to be had in his cartoons. While not one of his absolute masterpieces, We Give Pink Stamps is thoroughly entertaining in all respects. I do agree though about the title, even as a kid I found it perplexing and still don't get the significance of it. The animation is simple but also stylish and the colours are pretty. The main theme to The Pink Panther is one of the most timeless themes for any animated show or character, and the music for We Give Pink Stamps is every bit as catchy. The story like the animation is simple but not simplistic, what matters more is that there is never a dull moment and sustains the running time nicely. The sight gags are imaginative and funny, Pinky is cool, sweet and funny(but never mean-spirited) in his craftiness, and the janitor takes the butt of Pinky's jokes memorably. In conclusion, the title is curious but We Give Pink Stamps makes for great entertainment. 9/10 Bethany Cox

There goes that live lawn chair again!
OllieSuave-00714 July 2016
The Pink Panther stoles away at a department store to spend a few nights, only to find himself driving the night-shift custodian berserk.

The panther wants some peace and quiet, so, he hilariously plays tricks on the custodian, from making pink footprints on the escalator to spitting back dust at him in order to scare him away. The panther also runs into a lawn chair that for some reason is able to come to live again (oh, the imagination of cartoons!). I liked the part where the custodian finally silences the live chair.

It's also a little too funny that the cat rug, which withstood several shots from the custodian's shotgun, was able to come to life as well! A rather funny cartoon - a little too incredible - but still entertaining nonetheless!
