Double-Pink
CuriosityKilledShawn17 March 2005
The Pink Panther reads a book called 'Secret Agent' and fancies himself as a bit of a Spy. Luckily for him an offscreen narrator informs him of a gaggle of Ruskie spies conspiring in a building a few yards away. Pinky now takes it upon himself to see what they're up to. Cue sight gags and mishaps as nothing Pinky seems to try works and he'll end up with his fur blown off or something.

It's all funny and director Hawley Pratt and producer Friz Freleng use their Looney Tunes experience to bring a familiar sense of anarchy to some of the gags. But don't ask me to explain that last joke, coz I just don't get it.

Fun, but kind of mean spirited at the end.

Warning: Spoilers
I like pink finger, but the end kinda makes me feel bad for the "paul frees voice english guy dude (pfvegd for short)" because he gets crocked (or gatored) by crocodiles. I kinda forgot I was talking about a pink panther cartoon. I like the train and bomb gang, and I love the blast him gag, and maybe I like the banana gag. Otherwise this cartoon is good, not great, but good. I recommend seeing it if you like fun film spoofs! 6/10 -rockyandyipper

Pink Panther Odyssey Part VII

A disembodied secret agent voice guides our hapless panther into the world of surveillance with disastrous consequences - it doesn't work at all this one and I think that's because it's the first where our laconic pink protagonist is constantly wrong-footed which doesn't feel groovy at all. Longing for the spare jazzy cool of the first short at this point.

Maybe I'm not the only one who has seen BOTH . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . GOLD FINGER and its remake, PINK FINGER, but surely there are many film fans who are wondering if it is really necessary to watch each picture, or if that would be totally redundant. As it turns out, close viewings actually will turn up a few subtle differences between these cinematic offerings. While the earlier film cost a whopping $3 million to make, it earned $110 million at the box office, which tends to prove the old saw: "You've got to spend money to make money." Coincidentally, GOLD runs 110 minutes, which means it made a million bucks per minute of running time. PINK clocks in at a scant six minutes, which impelled its producers to cut a few key scenes featured in the original. PINK, despite its title, includes fewer characters in the altogether--painted or otherwise. PINK also skips over the LASER beam, military charade, duped mobsters and Odd Job's top hat. As poor Eric learned at the end of GOLD FINGER, it just goes to prove that sometimes you can't have it all.

Never Listen To Paul Frees.
stephen068425 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This was the second of three Pink Panther shorts to feature Paul Frees. In this picture, Frees advises the panther on how to be an secret agent, in order to catch an spy. (Who was voiced by Dave Barry.) Meanwhile, the spies tries to get rid of the panther through out most of the picture, and with Frees helping the panther, he dose not stand an chance. The panther chases the spy to the train station and was nearly blown up on the train. Piror to that, the spy used an alligator to get rid of the panther but that to had failed. Soon, the panther tired, (after captures the spy,) found Frees trapped with the alligators as Frees begs the panther to help him, the panther just leaves him with the alligators, as the film ends. In case you were wondering, the other two films that Frees was involved in was Sink Pink, and the Pink Pranzer. The moral is never listen to Paul Frees, he'll get you in trouble. Just ask the Pink Panther and Tom.

Overall, I give it an 7 out of 10.

The name's Panther, Pink Panther
TheLittleSongbird12 April 2013
Pinkfinger is perhaps not among Pink Panther's best, but it is still a good fun cartoon, which is what matters more. Phrases like "old boy" and "good show" in the narration are overused to annoyance, some of the character designs are lacking in smoothness and while amusing the alligator gag has been done before in cartoons many times so the outcome wasn't all that surprising. However, the colours and backgrounds are beautifully done and look very Fritz Freleng, it's simple but effective in that sense. Henry Mancini's main theme is iconic, you can still hear why and the rest of the music accompanying the action is just as catchy. Pinkfinger is more amusing than it is hilarious, but it still entertains. The cartoon's biggest laugh easily comes from the "blast him" gag, if there was one part that was hilarious it was this. The story fun, well-paced and different somewhat for the Pink Panther, nothing comes across as predictable or derivative. Pinky as ever is subtly cunning, and has considerable enough to carry the material. Paul Frees and Dave Barry's vocals are very nicely done. All in all, not Pinky at his best but still worth the viewing. 7/10 Bethany Cox

"I Say, Old Boy" - Bad Show
ccthemovieman-122 May 2007
The Panther is reading his "Secret Agent" and hearing a voice coming from somewhere, sort of a narrator and he's asking the PP if he'd like to be a hero, getting spies and all that. They are all over the place, just a stone's throw away, according to the voice. The Panther grabs a stone, throws it out his window and suddenly hears some angry Russian curse. So, he takes the voice's advice and goes outside to be a spy.

The voice, with an annoying British accent, follows the Panther and instructs him on what to do. There are tons of "I say," "good show" and "old boy," etc. It sounds like David Niven back in the '50s and '60s. All I can say is "bring back the no-dialog Pink Panther cartoons; they are far better than this sort of thing. The dialog is not only not funny, but it detracts from the sight gags which made this cartoon so clever and popular.

The Pink Panther again
rbverhoef28 August 2004
Cartoons starring the Pink Panther do not belong to my favorites. They always have one or two funny moments but compared to the cartoons from Disney and Warner Brothers they are not good. 'Pinkfinger' is no exception, unfortunately, although it is a little different from other cartoons starring the Pink Panther.

The Pink Panther is a secret agent and communicates with a person off-screen. With the help of that person he tries to catch some of the bad guys. Things do not go as planned, of course.

All things that go wrong with the Pink Panther in this cartoon could be really funny but it gives us only one or two laughs. The first moments are pretty good as well, the ending saves this one a little. Still, not recommended.

Pink Panther in hilarious spy spoof.
OllieSuave-00711 July 2016
The Pink Panther is a secret agent looking for enemy spies in this funny cartoon short, where a background voice narrates the story's every element and talks to the panther, guiding him on his secret mission to catch the crooks.

The spies attempt to detonate a series of black-ball devices around the city and the panther tries to stop them, only to see himself hilariously being counterattacked by guns, crocodiles and cigarette bombs. Lots of slapstick comedy and moments that will make you laugh-out-loud.

Grade A
