Home Is Where You Find It
ccthemovieman-115 May 2007
This was another very early, perhaps the second, Pink Panther cartoon ever and it featured one main thing the first cartoon had, mainly no backgrounds, just the objects being used highlighted.

So when the Panther suddenly finds a key to a house, the house - or rather, just the door - is the only thing we see. When he enters the house, just the objects like the lamp, the bed or the shower - the objects he uses - are the only ones drawn on the screen. That makes for some pretty wild sight gags, and good ones, too.

We have a homeless, sleepy Pink Panthee who first shuffles into a "flop house" (there is an old term) looking to catch some z's, but he and the "welcome mat" get thrown out immediately. Our hero then finds a key, turns around and - presto! - a door is there, and so he enters and makes himself at home. There are two funny bits, one in the shower and one with an electric tooth brush.

Soon, the drunken guy who owns the house, comes home and more gags ensue, leading the man to give up the "demon rum."

Very good in the first half, less good in the last minutes
Atreyu_II26 March 2009
The 2nd 'Pink Panther' cartoon is very good in the first minutes, being hilarious, great fun, imaginative and creative. Funny gags include, for example, whenever the homeowner crashes against something and makes great noise, waking up Pinky (who falls asleep again). Not any less hilarious is whenever Pinky is having a slight headache with the lightbulb.

The cartoon becomes less good, particularly from when the AA rep enters in scene on. Nevertheless, as a cartoon, it still is good material and fun to watch.

It's a quite simple cartoon, like most of Pinky's cartoons, including very simplistic artwork. It's not one of the Pink Panther's best cartoons. It's still good enough but, like many things in life, it's important not to take it too seriously and to know how to appreciate this kind of thing.

So tired
CuriosityKilledShawn24 November 2004
The Pink Panther is worn out and tired. All he needs is a place to catch a few Z's. The only flophouse around kicks him out for some reason (prejudiced probably). So old Pinky goes for a desperate wander.

Soon he comes across an empty house and invites himself in. Little does he know that the owner will be back soon and is about to get the fright of his life.

Tricks and hijinks follow. It's all funny stuff with the slightest bit of cleverness without being overly intelligent. The Pink Panther's coolness is in abundance in this cartoon. While not his best, it's still rather funny.

The instigator of this series is not fit . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . to be connected in any way with children's fare, such as cartoons. Tinsel Town has a sordid history of notorious scandals, but the ones involving material aimed at kids are the most troubling. On the surface, PINK PAJAMAS might not appear as a particularly vile or disturbing picture. Sure, there's a bed-hopping scene, but it involves two males. As Kaiser So Shy would say, where's the harm in that? Apart from the usual suspects, though, Real Life p-e-c-c-a-d-i-l-l-o-s may not be recognized by this site's spell checker, but they matter to many. After Mary Poppins broke up the man in question's first marriage, he returned the favor by popping out her poppers for the world to see in a live-action feature film with a title unprintable here. How could someone thus besmirching America's nanny still have DVD sets and streaming content deemed suitable for the kids in Today's enlightened society?

Cheers to the Pink Panther!
OllieSuave-00713 July 2016
The Pink Panther is trying to find a place to sleep and ends up magically using a key to enter man's house, where he makes himself quite at home. Hilarious moments follow when the panther uses the man's shaving equipment and electric toothbrush - especially the part where the toothbrush makes a mind of its own and runs all over the panther. He also tries to sleep and keep the lamp turned off. But, the man, a drunk, arrives home after one of his binges and attempts to sleep, only to think he was hallucinating after seeing the Pink Panther in his bed.

The man thinks his drinking habits have caused him to see unusual things, but just see what happens when he realizes that a real panther is really in his house!

Plenty of laughs and plenty of slapstick humor. The Pink Panther's movements and action were just classic and funny.

Grade A

Not as good as Pink Phink but still fun
TheLittleSongbird2 April 2013
The Pink Panther as a character is iconic and I take great enjoyment in watching his cartoons. Pink Pajamas is his second cartoon, and while it is a step down from Pink Phink- which is one of his best- it is still fun. The animation may be simplistic with some sparse backgrounds and the second half I agree is not as funny as the first. However the music is still very catchy, being very jazzy and the main theme is infectious and instantly recognisable, and the gags are funny and creative, especially with the shower. The story is unoriginal but well paced with Pink Panther's situation is one that I totally identify with. Pinky himself is as usual effortlessly cool, and is supported very nicely.

In conclusion, very good and fun cartoon even if I prefer Pink Phink. 8/10 Bethany Cox

a Surreal Sequel to The Pink Phink but Effective and Hilarious
Kalashnikovin8 October 2022
After the unsurpassed success of the Oscar Winner "The Pink Phink" Freleng and his Colleague Depatie continued the series and this time with a cartoon that took a more Surreal direction but also worked.

This time the Pink Panther is at dawn, completely awake and dying, after being kicked out of a Terrible Bad Death Shelter, he finds a key and a mysterious door suddenly appears, he takes the house as his Property but what the panther does not know is that the Owner has already arrived and a game of cat and mouse occurs, both torment each other but neither knows of the presence of the other.

The Animation is very Simplistic, not reaching the Border of the Ugly and Minimalist, but really the drawings are not a big deal, but really the artistic style is what draws the attention of this cartoon, the way of coloring the backgrounds is worthy of Leonardo Da Vinci, the Animation is Simplistic but Fluid and Magnificent at the same time, the drawings are not great as I said but that artistic style draws attention and the colors are beautiful and combine well with the Strange and Surreal style in which Caricature is based.

The Music is Really Good, It has a Peculiar Jazz Style very much on a par with Musicians like Henry Mancini or Lalo Schifrin, William Lava offers a very catchy background music and the classic Pink Panther Theme I will never get tired of listening to.

Just like The Pink Phink, Pink Pajamas offers a simplistic but nice art style, their Jazz Style Music is Relaxing and makes the Cartoon progress, their Mute sense of humor with Some Touches of Surrealism add a lot and make it a cartoon completely enjoyable.

Calling My Sponsor...
owen-watts10 November 2020
Pink Panther Odyssey Part II

The second Freleng Panther short is even more nocturnally surreal than the first- despite the description (and pictures) on the IMDB page being inaccurate at time of writing, Pink finds himself somewhere to nap but is interrupted by a drunkard. It's another goldie for me with some brilliant slapstick and I found the guy ringing up his AA sponsor a wickedly dark turn. Glorious.

Surreal, sleepy, and super.

Warning: Spoilers
Pink pajamas is awesome, but not as good as my personal favorites such as The pink phink, pinkfinger, pink panzer, an ounce of pink, pink pistons, pink outs and so on. My favorite part is the drunk man calling AA, and the drunk man with the heating pad, making the panther jump out of bed. But other than that, it is pretty standard. -rockyandyipper

Worthy follow-up to the "The Pink Phink"
nnwahler17 July 2023
Friz Freleng and David DePatie began their new studio auspiciously with this film and its Oscar-winning predecessor, "The Pink Phink" (as well as the first live-action movie's opening which started it all--probably the single greatest thing Freleng ever directed).

I really wish Freleng hadn't tinkered with such a superb formula: in "Pink Pajamas," his flair for pantomime humor and comic timing is completely intact. Nearly everything happens spot on, in a thoroughly inevitable way. Writer John Dunn's gags are more than just serviceable.

But Freleng dinkered with the series's format for the rest of his directed filmography, even having the panther (heaven help us all) TALK, fer cryin' out loud! In a couple of years Freleng would hand over the directorial reins to long-time layout man and character designer, Hawley Pratt (really the TRUE creator of the Pink Panther). Pratt fortunately stuck to the pantomime formula and kept the series on an even keel with some very good cartoons.

I guess Freleng's main job at his own studio now was "minding the store".
