Enjoyable, if not especially memorable
zetes14 April 2013
A charming little college comedy by Kinoshita. Four dorm-mates look toward the future. Mori, the most depressive one, is randomly discovered by television producers. His life is turned upside down when he becomes an overnight star. There's a weird moment of self-referential humor when Mori announces that he's signed a contract with Shochiku (the studio from which this film came). One of his friends hopes that he can work with Keisuke Kinoshita, and another of the friends replies, "Yeah, he's great!" This is a nice, if not especially memorable, little comedy. A ton of Keisuke Kinoshita's films can be found in the Criterion section of Hulu Plus. I doubt any of these will ever find their way to DVD.
