According to Jirí Sovák's autobiography, the actor directed scenes filmed in Egypt due to the sudden medical indisposition of director Martin Fric.
The film is distributed in two editing versions. One is 92 minutes long, the other is 100 minutes long.
The original Czech title 'Král Králu' is a play on words. It means 'King Králu' (Králu is surname of the protagonist), but also 'King of the Kings'.
The opening credits list the copyright as 1962, although filming ended in March 1963 and the film was released in July of that year.
