Sex & Nudity

  • Hardly any. At one point, the camera briefly focuses on a cocktail waitress' behind; she is wearing tight-fitting pants. It is implied that the married female protagonist, unable to stop drinking, would spend time and be unfaithful with other men in order to continue drinking, even though she admits to her husband they meant "nothing."

  • Very little. A man briefly tries to choke another man in anger before stopping himself.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The greenhouse scene in which an intoxicated Joe (Jack Lemmon) frantically seeks a bottle of alcohol may be disturbing to some. He violently rips out flowers and smashes flower pots in desperartion.
  • The scenes in which Joe (Jack Lemmon) is suffering from withdrawal symptoms may be unsettling for some.
