Sex & Nudity

  • Subtle kissing. Glaucus kisses Ione at least once during their second moment together after declaring his love for her. Ione's father the Roman Councilor tries to steal a kiss from his mistress during the party scene but is swatted away due to being drunk and having wine on his breath.
  • A drunk Praetorian attempts to have his way with a blind slave girl before he's interrupted by the hero Glaucus. The "attempt" is mild and ends quickly due to being interrupted by the arrival of Glaucus.
  • No nudity. Hardly any show of cleavage or anything else as mostly all the women with any significant screen time are wearing long dresses. The men either wear one-strap tunics, or v-cut tunics and shorts or Roman armor or togas.

Violence & Gore

  • The film opens with a night raid by bandits. They brutally murder the residents of a large Roman estate, including killing a mother begging for her child's life to be spared. Shortly after, her child is also killed (off-camera).
  • A young man is caught stealing by a Roman guard and is publicly flogged as punishment. The flogging is brief and is stopped by the hero who stands up for the boy.
  • A fist fight breaks out between two drunken men at the Roman's party to "honor" their goddess Isis. The hero takes his hits briefly before quickly turning it around whaling on his rival. He finishes the fight with a heavy punch sending his rival into a fountain.
  • A friend of the hero Glaucus is found dead on a horse before falling off at the foot of a staircase outside the party house. The hero and another friend find a bloody "X" carved into the dead man's chest. (no pun intended)
  • Glaucus and his youngest friend (the little thief he helped earlier) fight off a large group of bandits inside a temple. Glaucus becomes a one-man army killing everybody in his path. Two men are visibly impaled on spears, others are just "punched" or "kicked" to death. Glaucus burns a man's face with a tall brazier during the temple fight.
  • Glaucus is dropped down a long pit. He wakes up after hitting the bottom, missing a pool of water where alligators are waiting for their next meal. Glaucus studies the water and carefully climbs down into it. He meets an alligator head-on and wrestles it underwater. He promptly breaks its jaw and swims off.
  • Glaucus' friends gather additional help to try and free him from prison and execution in the arena. They break into the arena, killing a Roman guard (seen with a blood sword still in his chest) and then disguise themselves as gladiators.
  • Glaucus fights and kills a lion set loose to kill Christian prisoners in the arena. He suffers only minor scratch wounds. Next he fights the "first wave" of gladiators. A mild sword fight exchanged, with no blood or mutilation.
  • The second wave of gladiators march out to shoot down the Christians with arrows. They instead turn and fire on the Roman guards...and one Roman Councilor. These are actually Glaucus' friends in disguise.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The heaviest drinking is all done in one night during the celebration to honor the goddess Isis. Glaucus among others is the most drunk due to his recent family tragedy. Others include a very drunk Roman Councilor and a drunk Praetorian.
  • No Drugs.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some viewers may be disturbed at the merciless throwing human beings into lion pits. At least one occurrence is seen of this but we don't see the lions maul or devour their victim.
  • Intense moments may include the desperate escape by Pompeii's citizens as Mt. Vesuvius erupts. Many people die in various ways, including buildings collapsing on them, statues or pillars collapsing on them or people falling into fissures made by the continued eruptions. At least one woman slowly dies after a solid marble column collapsed across her torso, presumably crushing her in half. She dies in her lover's embrace as he comforted her to the last moment.
