A real Change in course for Faten Hamama
lala752 June 2006
I like this movie not only because of the fine directing, acting, screenplay and dialogue but mainly because of Faten Hamama's choice of role. in that era , she was the angel face of the high and middle-class society. a symbol for real fineness. But in a very clever and different choice the showed us what she can do , turning simply into that WILD Cat on the screen . a girl from the lower classes living beside the dock of Alexandria port , working there and her life before and after her long gone cousin , working on a ship , returns from a trip . she was wonderful. I love to see her in this movie skirmishing her cousin - played by Omar Sheriff - though they're in love .i might add that this is perhaps one of the few movies in Egyptian cinema that i can really feel what is described as sexual tension between the two main characters . flowing off the screen . wonderful movie
