Like its predecessor Fabian of the Yard (1954) this was another three episodes compiled from the Fabian TV-series and was of particular benefit to the millions in Britain who did not own a television set at that time. Handcuffs London was passed by the British Board of Film Censors with a "U" certificate on 6 December 1954 and distributors Eros previewed it at the Hammer Theatre, Wardour Street on 28 January 1955 (one screening at 2:30 for press and trade only). At most places (starting with the Morecambe Empire from 20 February 1955) Eros decided to supply it as support for their Italian epic release The Queen of Sheba (1952).
