At the end of the film Phillip Chance, played by John Justin, has taken his seat on a plane when a woman sits next to him. This was his real wife at the time, Barbara Murray.
John Justin plays a biographer for a test pilot who died testing a new plane. Two years earlier, he played a test pilot in The Sound Barrier (1952).
F109, the fictitious plane flown by Martin Teckman, was the real designation for an aircraft in the US "Century" series of jet fighters in the 1950s and 60s. However, the real aircraft, intended as a successor to the McDonnell Voodoo, never progressed beyond the experimental stage.
Philip Chance's books include "Red Sky All Night" and its successor "The Lost Forest".
