- [first lines]
- Judge Henderson: [a disgruntled Judge Henderson reviews the bogus charges on the stooges] Officer Ryan, you deserve a sharp reprimand for taking up the valuable time of this court with these flimsy cases
- [turns to the other officer]
- Judge Henderson: and so does Officer Casey. These men cannot be held for vagrancy. They have visible means of support!
- Larry: [whispers to Moe and holds out his right suspender] Does he mean out suspenders?
- Moe: Ohhh...
- [he pulls on the suspender and snaps it back]
- Larry: [in pain] Oww!
- Judge Henderson: Quiet!
- [he bangs his gavel, but smashes Officer Ryan's hand, by accident]
- Officer Ryan: Oww!
- Judge Henderson: I'm sorry, officer.
- [looks at the charges again]
- Judge Henderson: And this other charge: chicken stealing. I'm not going to make these poor unfortunates the victims of your prejudice and guesswork. Case dismissed for lack of evidence. You're free, boys.
- Moe, Larry: Oh, thank you, your honor!
- [a clucking chicken starts to expose itself from Shemp's jacket as Moe and Larry try to hide it and the judge looks up at Shemp, who is clucking like a chicken]
- Judge Henderson: What's the matter with him?
- Moe: Oh, he thinks he's a chicken.
- Judge Henderson: Why don't you put him in an institution?
- Larry: We can't. We need the eggs.
- Moe: [bonks Larry on the head] Quiet!
- [the chicken flies out from Shemp's jacket and lands on the judge and the officers try to extract it]
- Moe: Every man for himself!
- [they run out of the courtroom with the officers in pursuit but are knocked down by the swinging doors]
