If you have seen Jean Laviron's precedent effort " Au Diable La Vertu " ,this is more of the same : infidelity, husbands and lovers, wives and mistresses ,and plenty of talking at cross-purposes without realizing it .As Sacha Guitry previously showed ,a play can be successfully transferred to the screen ;but it takes a little more imagination,a little more invention. Here ,we never deal with cinema ,but with pure filmed stage production ;anyway, the play was rather poor in the first place ,a situation which the screenwriters did nothing to rectify.

Although Louis De Funès had small parts in the fifties before he became a superstar in the sixties, here he is featured right through as a private eye who is in charge of following the unfaithful ones ;it's at least good news for his fans.
