Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's animation Producer, Fred Quimby, originally was opposed to making this cartoon. However, animation director, Tex Avery, used his witty vocabulary and convinced Quimby by telling him that there was nothing else ready at the time for animation production.
Noah Webster did indeed publish an early dictionary, which is still available in 2022, both online and on paper.
The short was heavily sampled in the Madvillain song Strange Ways.
Although it was made 70 years ago, many of the slang terms so cleverly portrayed are still used today.
