A rare instance where James Arness was billed under the actual spelling of his last name, "Aurness", listed second after Kasey Rogers (who, ironically, was not using her real name, but the stage name of Laura Eliott).
This film was heavily advertised as a living dinosaur/giant monster movie. However, dinosaurs appear only for two to three minutes in the final reel. The dinosaurs were stock footage taken from One Million B.C. (1940); no original dinosaur effects were shot.
Just 7 years before the production of this film Mr. Arness was severely wounded in his right leg by German Wehrmacht machine gun fire during WWII in 1944 requiring a year long hospital stay and multiple surgeries. The screenwriters worked his permanent limp caused by this injury into the script when one woman was rambling on about the 'Yankee Sailor' and that she even likes the way he walks, and especially the way he 'limps'.
