Wendy Waldron to the rescue!
JohnHowardReid28 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
An average Johnny Mack Brown western. Despite a fair amount of location shooting and plenty of hard riding with running inserts, the action scenes do not come across very strongly. The story is an ordinary and familiar one and no attempt is made at characterization. Johnny is a bit paunchy here and is showing his age. The heroine, however, is an attractive lass named Wendy Waldron, and Myron Healey turns in his usual reliable study as the chief villain. Hank Bell is cast somewhat against type as the sheriff, and it's nice to see Pierre Watkin, if but briefly. The rest of the support cast doesn't amount to much. For once, Johnny doesn't have a comic relief — nor are there any musical interludes. The direction is competent, but undistinguished, and the same might be said for the other production credits with the exception of the music score which makes a welcome try for a bit of atmosphere. Production values, however, are very moderate.
