Miley Cryus has unveiled a synth-laden cover Talking Heads’ 1977 hit “Psycho Killer.” The singer recorded the rendition, which she previewed live at Chateau Marmont in March, for Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense, out now.
While Cyrus offered an acoustic version of the song at Chateau Marmont, her recorded cover is far edgier, falling somewhere between pop and dance music. It embraces an ’80 synth sensibility, with angular beats and fuzzed out vocals.

Cinema history is full of missed opportunities. For example, a Beatles movie almost featured David Bowie as a character from a Beatles song. Instead, a famous comedian got the role. A member of the film’s cast revealed what she thought about this development.
David Bowie almost played Mr. Kite in a Beatles movie
Across the Universe is a Fab Four jukebox musical set in a heightened version of the 1960s. Several characters in the movie are named after figures from Beatles songs, including Jude, Lucy, Maxwell, Sexy Sadie, and Mr. Kite.
During a 2018 interview with Vulture, director Julie Taymor discussed the role of Mr. Kite. “We rehearsed it like a normal musical in theater … and it bonded everybody,” he said. “I’ll never forget [star] Evan [Rachel Wood] walking in the hallways with this Bowie T-shirt, because at one point we’d asked David Bowie if he was going to play Mr.

Early-aughts teen queen Lindsay Lohan is having a comeback moment, and her latest Netflix romance is here. Lohan stars as book editor Maddie who’s head over heels for the author she works with, Paul (Alexander Vlahos), until he falls in love with her best friend (Elizabeth Tan). Putting her feelings aside, Maddie travels to Ireland for their wedding, where sparks fly with a charismatic photographer (Ed Speleers) until an accidental wish turns her life upside down. She wakes up engaged to Paul and racing toward a walk down the aisle she’s not sure she wants anymore.
Like any good wedding playlist should be, the “Irish Wish” soundtrack is a mix of love songs and danceable,...

A reunited Heart performed their first show in over four years on Wednesday night (December 27th) at the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, California.
The legendary rock group fronted by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson had previously announced a New Year’s Eve reunion concert in their hometown of Seattle, Washington. It appears Heart scheduled a few warm-up gigs, as the Highland show will be followed by a performance on Thursday (December 28th) at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California.
Wednesday’s concert was Heart’s first since October 2019 and saw the band running through a career-spanning set including hits such as “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You,” and “Barracuda.” The Wilson sisters would close out the evening with a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” reprising their famous performance of the song at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012 — a rendition that brought Robert Plant, who was in attendance,...

The first thing you notice while watching Brett Morgen’s Moonage Daydream is David Bowie’s teeth. He smiles a lot. The Thin White Duke, and leader of the Spiders from Mars, is known as a serious artist. Yes, he sang “chubby little loser, national joke” to Ricky Gervais on Extras; mined Bikini Bottom humor for SpongeBob SquarePants; and was certainly happy to make lots of money dancing the blues in his red shoes, but the majority of Bowie’s works, both on screen and audio, are serious studies. Towards the end of the documentary, we hear Bowie say he always thought himself an adventurer, praying for the most exciting life one could have. Morgen shows the artist enjoyed himself immensely, possibly even more than Bowie fans.
Moonage Daydream is Morgen’s third pop-music documentary, following the Rolling Stones film Crossfire Hurricane (2012), and Montage of Heck, his 2015 dive into the...

James Thornton and Charlie Baker have been crowned the winners of Let's Dance For Comic Relief 2011. The Emmerdale actor and his comedian partner topped the public vote ahead of Russell Kane's Beyoncé homage with their tap dance to Fred Astaire classic 'Puttin' On The Ritz'. Upon hearing the result, the clearly-stunned duo proceeded to thank the Let's Dance viewers for continuing to support them and Comic Relief. Thornton and Baker were then presented with a special Let's Dance trophy by previous winners Robert Webb and Rufus Hound. "Men dressed as men, the template is smashed," Webb deadpanned. "Well done, it's about time." (more)...
