Educational distributor Kanopy has struck a deal with Paramount Pictures, adding 100 classic films from the studio’s library to the on-demand streaming service. Twenty-five of those titles – including “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” “Harold and Maude,” “Sunset Boulevard,” and “Saturday Night Fever” — are available to stream now. The other 75 titles will be added in the coming weeks and months. (The full list is at the bottom of this article.)
Kanopy has been a pioneer in the educational market, first in its move away from physical media and toward a streaming app that is available on Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Tablet, and iOS and Android devices. Last year, they also expanded beyond universities and institutions and started to aggressively strike deals with public libraries making Kanopy available to a far wider percentage of the population. Now those with a public library card can access the free streaming service in a number of major cities,...

The recent box office success of The Boss firmly establishes Melissa McCarthy as the current queen of movie comedies (Amy Schumer could be a new contender after an impressive debut last Summer with Trainwreck), but let us think back about those other funny ladies of filmdom. So while we’re enjoying the female reboot/re-imagining of Ghostbusters and those Bad Moms, here’s a top ten list that will hopefully inspire lots of laughter and cause you to search out some classic comedies. It’s tough to narrow them down to ten, but we’ll do our best, beginning with… 10. Eve Arden The droll Ms. Arden represents the comic sidekicks who will attempt to puncture the pomposity of the leading ladies with a well-placed wisecrack (see also the great Thelma Ritter in Rear Window). Her career began in the early 1930’s with great bit roles in Stage Door and Dancing Lady.

Will and Fancy Pants Lover Boy continue to question Nick about Rafe, who flatlined yesterday and is therefore obviously dead.
Nick tries to leave, but is blocked by Sonny. I Love Dick Blocking Sonny!
Will says, “every minute you just look more guilty. Just answer the question, did you attack Rafe?” Nick starts to say, “You …” and Will dares him to finish.
Sami asks Kate why Stefano would want to have Rafe attacked, and Kate announces, “Because we were lovers.” Sami is all wha-wha-wha-what?, but Stefano looks genuinely surprised. I think. He so rarely registers emotion, it’s hard to tell which one he’s attempting.
Chad (who’s rocking his k.d. Lang circa “Absolute Torch and Twang” hair) is having some vague trouble at Common Grounds, while Will and Sonny continue to berate Nick, and ask him again where he was when Rafe was beaten. Nick laughs and dismisses them,...

Can Sonny and Will get to the bottom of who bludgeoned Rafe? Grilling Nick is a good place to start!
Okay, look. I know I should have liveblogged Friday, but I didn’t realize WilSon would have so many … WilSon … scenes. Here’s the highlight, with a tense scene with Sami and Stefano, a very sweet WilSon scene (with kiss), and Rafe taking an alley nap. And as I always suspected … Rafe’s head is obviously filled with beanbags.
We start with a repeat of Rafe being hit, and the culprit is wearing a blue shirt. What do you want to bet that today is the Annual Salem Blue Shirt Day?
Over at Common Grounds, Will and Sonny are … thumbwrestling? when Jj comes in and surprises them. He and Will hug, and he fist bumps Sonny, and that sound you hear is fanfic all over the world being hastily scribbled down.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas - unless it hits Twitter first! Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie visited Las Vegas on Saturday for friends, food and a fight. An onlooker tells People that the couple dined with a group of 10 people at Andrea's at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas on Saturday. The table boasted quite the spread, indulging in Executive Chef Joseph Elevado's shishito peppers, crispy tuna, chicken lettuce cups, shrimp and burdock rolls, cucumber rolls, yellowtail and albacore sushi, New York strip steak, crispy noodles, beef tenderloin and tofu friend rice. That same night, the couple also...

Lucas Caleb Rooney’s agents may not be thrilled with the benefit he’s throwing next week, but that’s kind of the point. On Nov. 26, Rooney’s organization, Zara Aina, will host its Big Ol’ Fancy Pants Inaugural Benefit at the 52nd Street Project Theater. Funds will help American artists join children in Madagascar to create and tour an original play. Benefit performers include ascendant Broadway hunk Benjamin Walker (the upcoming “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”), Tony Award winner Adriane Lenox (“Doubt”), “Ghost” and “Hair” star Caissie Levy, and Drama Desk Award winner Lorenzo Pisoni (“Humor Abuse”). This glittery lineup speaks to Zara Aina’s roots in New York City theater. Rooney, the artistic director, is on Broadway in “Golden Boy,” and he’s been an Off-Broadway staple for years. Executive director Bryce Pinkham was in “Ghost” and “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,” and he co-starred with Rooney in...

Note: Do note read on if you have not seen the Season 8 finale of ABC's "The Bachelorette" with Emily Maynard.
I've been recapping "The Bachelorette" since 2003 and I can say with complete certainty that this has been my favorite season. Sure, I love certain characters from episodes of yore (be still my ever-loving Roberto, Ames and Reid heart) but for the first time in a long time, I actually ended the season with a feeling that I had been somewhat entertained each week instead of the usual, "Why does this show have to be two hours long when clearly 30 minutes could suffice?"
Perhaps I liked this year because of Emily's no nonsense attitude toward the traditional rules set forth by "Bachelor" nation. Maybe it was her Southern charm and integrity. It could have been her determination to actually take this reality show seriously for once by truly seeking out...

Willow Palin used the F-word while blasting a kid on Facebook for bashing her mom. Do You think she’s homophobic?
With all of the talk of Internet bullying, it’s refreshing to see someone stand up for herself and her family. However, when Willow Palin lashed out at a mean kid on Facebook Nov. 14, she called him the F-word — and we don’t mean Fancy Pants, either. Do you think this is a case of good intentions with bad execution…or is Willow completely insensitive?
Here’s what happened:
During the premiere of her mom’s show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, Nov. 14, one of Bristol’s classmates posted a status on Facebook reading, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska, is failing so hard right now.”
Willow responded with: “Haha your so gay. I have no idea who you are, But what I’ve seen pictures of, your disgusting … My sister had...

Payback is most certainly a beyotch! So what plans does Emily Deschanel have for her Bones co-star David Boreanaz when she becomes his big boss this season? To make David as miserable as he made her when he was playing Mr. Fancy Pants Director. Yes, Emily is directing her very first Bones episode this fall. And of course, as usual with these two, all this ribbing was in good fun. (Note: These two have the most siblingest relationship of any co-stars on television...So much so that it merits the invention of a fancy new word!) I met up with David and the lovely Emily last night at the Fox party, and they dished on Emily's directorial debut, their real-life, love-hate friendship and...wait a...

It's been a while since our last update on "The Goon" movie front, but that's because creator Eric Powell has been busy planning his horror-noir hero's return to comics — both the print and digital kind.
Two "Goon" tales his the iPhone comics world today: The celebrated graphic novel "Chinatown and the Mystery of Mr. Wicker" and the special one-shot story "The Goon" #7, featuring Hellboy. Later this year, Powell will return to the universe he created with a new, three-issue miniseries based on one of his most tragic characters, the mysterious Buzzard, and eventually follow that up with a return to regular creative duties on "The Goon" comic book series.
MTV News caught up with Powell to chat about The Goon's debut on the iPhone, and what else he has planned for the Goon when the regular series returns.
MTV: "The Goon"... on the iPhone. This is... unexpected.
Eric Powell: [Laughs] It's interesting.

No that isn't the title for the next boxed set hand crafted by Ted Raimi in his basement with approval from Sam and Bruce. Robin Williams is great and all, but he's no Teddy Roosevelt. I reserve that honor for John Alexander, the man who played Theodore in Frank Capra's wonderful Arsenic and Old Lace. (As well as Bob Hope's Fancy Pants!) Ever since I was a little girl, his work as the Roosevelt-obsessed brother of Cary Grant has always sent me into fits of laughter. Teddy's earnestness has a charm we don't often see, and that bugle -- I almost wanted one of my own to Charge! ahead.
If you've never seen this Capra film, you must. Some rave about that Christmas flick, but for me -- it's all about the perfectly paced black comedy. In fact, this is the film that hooked me into the world of dark comedy, and I never looked back.
Trivia (via IMDb and Wikipedia):
Capra was forced to cast Cary Grant in the starring role.
