The three headed creature seems to be based on or influenced by The Three Stooges. The left head has a black hair cut similar to Moe, the middle head is bald just like Curly and the right head has long strands similar to Larry. The three heads argue, punch and eye gouge each other just as the late Three Stooges character actors used to do. The reference to the creature's mother being scared by a pawnbroker's sign is a reference to an old folk belief that things which scare or startle a pregnant woman influence the characteristics of the child. It also could be a means of avoiding copyright infringement (the actual Stooges were stilll under contract to Columbia studios, as this was created).
Even though the dialogue is recycled from "Porky in Wackyland", Mel Blanc re-recorded the voices. Similarly, even though both shorts feature many of the same music cues, Carl Stalling made an entirely new score for "Dough for the Do-Do".
While the short extensively re-uses animation from "Porky in Wackyland", Porky's character design was updated to match his '40s style.
Most of "Dough for the Do-Do" re-uses gags from "Porky in Wackyland". However, the ending is completely new. "Wackyland" involves Porky disguising himself as a newspaper salesman and nabbing the dodo. By contrast, in "Dough for the Do-Do", Porky disguises himself as the last dodo, and nabs the real dodo.
The amount of the reward for the last dodo printed in the newspaper is $4,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (pronounced as "four sextillion dollars"). See the Goofs section for more information.
