Banjo's director, Richard Fleischer, and his wife decided to go the Brown Derby Restaurant on the night of the film's primere. The couple sat down at the bar and they were greeted by a kind old gentleman who bought them drinks. Richard mentioned that he was a film director and the old man said he used to be in the business. The elderly man was none other than legendary film director, D.W. Griffith.
The cat's name is "Snoopy" pre-dating Charles M. Schulz "Peanuts" Beagle's character's name by three years.
