One of those films more often referred to than actually seen, 'The Vow' is probably more familiar to students of films from the close-ups of Stalin included in 'W. R. - Mysteries of the Organism' rather from actually sitting down and watching it.

Contrary to expectations 'Comrade Stalin' actually gets much less screen time (confined for long stretches simply to brief appearances as a remote but benevolent figure, pipe in hand, occasionally sauntering on and patting the head of peasants he invariably towers over) than in the director's later and much more entertaining 'The Fall of Berlin', which along with fact that's not in colour marks it out a rather early manifestation of the cult of personality.
