- Although it is reported that actress Tallulah Bankhead wore no underwear throughout shooting this film, no nudity is shown.
- A man asks a lady if he can look at her leg someday.
- A man has five girlfriends' initials tattooed on his chest. He offers to show a lady his other tattoos sometime. Presumably these are covered by his trousers.
- A drunk man asks for, and receives, a kiss from a lady.
- A woman, who feels she is in danger of dying, kisses a man.
- A woman and man play footsies and flirt, before kissing. Close-up of their feet.
Violence & Gore

- A journalist talks about all the battle scenes and people being killed that she has filmed as the ship went down.
- A baby drowns but her distraught mother continues to cuddle its corspe. She later attacks a man, punching him several times. A man punches another man in the face.
- Survivors discuss killing one of their number who was German. A knife is drawn.
- A man unbandages his wounded leg. It is badly damaged and gangrenous and others gather round to look, but it is not shown on camera. It is decided to amputate immediately. The operation is not seen as various people block our view.
- A man threatens to cut another man's throat during a card game.
- A woman slaps a man across the face. He grabs both her wrists and they struggle.
- A man grabs another around the throat and tries to throttle him.
- A man pushes another out of the lifeboat and he drowns.
- Several characters attack one man, punching him and beating him repeatedly with a piece of wood and a boot. He is thrown overboard.
- A lifeboat and a larger ship are struck by bombs.
- A man pulls a firearm and aims it at others but is disarmed before discharging it.
Profanity

- A woman calls a man a son-of-a ... but leaves the profanity incomplete.
- A lady is several times referred to as "that kind of a..." Again the profane slur is left incomplete.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- A woman sits alone in a lifeboat smoking a cigarette. Immediately she lights another and hands one to a crew member who has joined her in the lifeboat. She smokes almost constantly until she runs out.
- A man holds a cigar in his mouth but doesn't light it.
- A survivor of the battle asks if anybody has any liquor. He is keen to have "just one slug" of brandy to pick him up but the woman tending to his wounds advises against it.
- A substantial quantity of the brandy is subsequently used as a pain-killer during a medical procedure. The man is clearly inebriated. He later suffers from a hangover and asks for a cigarette.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- This movie was filmed during WW2. A major battle has occurred just before the camera turns on and we see the detritus of war, including a dead body floating in the water, although the actual battle is not shown. The characters are still required to make life and death decisions.
