Each occasion when I see this magnificent adaptation, I become nostalgic. Great actors, lovely performances and , as supreme gift, the spirit of Caragiale. A film impressive for the nuances of acting and for the introduce to the essence of a society in same measure naive, cruel and bizarre. Radu Beligan as Rica Venturiano was, for long time, the symbol of this masterpiece for me. For the status of the last surviver of cast, for the smart manner to give to the young journalist the traits of the old - new time. And Alexandru Giugaru as the terrible Dumitrache or Maria Maximilian as Veta are more than inspired interpreters but keys for a fantastic univers of appearences and illusions of a too old Romania. Short, a magnificent film and a delightfull example of impecable performances.

a classic Romanian comedy. one of Caragiale masterpieces. a film who, after decades, has not only artistic / historical importance but , more important, sentimental relevance. for the cast. and for only surviver to our time of it - Radu Beligan, the interpreter of Rică Venturiano who, on December 14 2013 celebrated 95 years of life, almost 75 years of career on scene. a film like a travel not only for its venerable age but for the manner of acting , for the waters of translation for nuances of play. it is a beautiful film and, for many Romanians, perfect occasion for remember a past in delicate colors. short - a situation comedy , picture of political/social Romanian traits, impressive in technical and artistic details. a page of history more than a show.
