Astro City # 6

Published by DC/Vertigo Comics
Since returning to stands earlier this year under DC’s Vertigo imprint, Kurt Busiek’s Astro City has been fluctuating up and down in quality with more fervor and energy than the needle on a seismograph placed next to a tap dancing Kodiak bear. Oh, everything started off all shiny and new before settling into a comfortable vibe, but then the sheen started to wear off and the comfortable vibe started to ebb away. Suddenly ,the last few issues had pacing problems or were trying to juggle too many plates and it seemed like something was dreadfully amiss.
Well, readers of Astro City can rejoice, because the patient has recovered from the recent palpitations and is happily recovering in Ward D, eating Jell-o and awkwardly flirting with the day nurse, because the new issue...

Love Kevin Bacon, hate those bloody adverts he keeps doing...
We know we're not alone here. There's an actor very close to our hearts, who has recently found himself in a situation not entirely dissimilar to a dancing bear: a once proud creature now forced into prancing about for a cruel master, a great sadness behind his eyes. We know that you will join with us in wishing him a full and speedy recovery. We hope you will add your voice to our ideals. The man in question is the brilliant Kevin Bacon. And this message is for him.
Dear Kevin Bacon,
We love your body of work, and also your physical body. That's also rad. If we hung out – and I hope we will – you'd be among friends.
In Animal House you taught us that, to get in with the right people, sometimes...

Move over Beyonce! There’s a new Sasha Fierce in town — and on June 3, she gave us the hottest performances of the night.
While Blake Shelton may still have three singers on his team, it was Team Shakira‘s Sasha Allen who really brought down the house on The Voice!
Blake Shelton’s Country Team Inspires Shakira
With only six contestants left, each singer performed twice — one song they picked themselves and one picked by their coach.
Blake’s team started the night when he chose “When God Fearin’ Women Get the Blues” for Holly Tucker, which showed just how powerful and fun her voice can be. She later chose “My Wish,” which she sang for her dad.
Then came the The Swon Brothers, and we all realized just how country these boys are!
They performed their choice, “Wagon Wheels,” which was so fun it even made Shakira admit that country music inspires her!
