  • A woman's pregnancy is a major plot point (The child was conceived on her supposed wedding night, but the marriage was not valid; thus, she agrees to have another woman pretend the baby is hers to avoid a scandal). The marriage is strongly implied to have been an impulse while both parties were drunk, since the man was actually engaged to another woman at the time.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman slaps a man.
  • A woman tosses a record into the fireplace.
  • A woman flips a table in anger.
  • A woman accidentally burns another woman's hand with a lamp. The second woman screams in pain, and the first woman slaps her to calm her down.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Bottles of alcohol are seen strewn around the apartment of a newlywed couple. The man is implied to be a bit of a an alcohol binger. The woman is clearly shown to be addicted to alcohol. Most scenes, she is either drinking or ordering a drink.
  • Frequent cigarette smoking. A miscellaneous man is briefly seen smoking a pipe; another smokes a cigar. A woman chain-smokes while pregnant.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Suspense towards the end gets a bit intense when the birth mother threatens the adoptive mother to break up her marriage by reclaiming her baby she gave up for adoption, hoping to take the husband with her.
