“It has been a personal exhilaration for me,” admits writer/director Julie Taymor about her new biopic “The Glorias,” which explores and celebrates the life of feminist icon Gloria Steinem. “I was so taken with the 80 years of her life,” Taymor reveals. “What people will really glean from this is why and how do you become the activist that she is? What was it about her early childhood and her relationship with her father, her mother, the idea that she didn’t go to school until she was 12 years old but that travel was the best education?” Watch the exclusive video interview with Taymor above.
In “The Glorias,” Oscar winners Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander play Steinem at different stages of her life as she rises to prominence as a leader of the women’s liberation movement. The film was written by Taymor and co-writer Sarah Ruhl, based on Steinem...

The ongoing Black Lives Matter protests over the murder of George Floyd and racism in American society has caused many celebrities to firmly nail their colors to the political mast. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively made a massive donation right at the start of the protests and have been recently joined by John Cena and many, many others. But Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has gone one step further by not just donating money, but having Floyd’s now-iconic last words “I Can’t Breath” and “We the People” inked on his hands.
He shared a photo of the tattoo on Twitter and captioned it with:
“Be relentless in the pursuit of justice. Unintimidated in the fight against oppression. We’re together to remind each other what we’re fighting for. I want to forget.I won’t let myself. There’s too much at stake. Peace to everyone fighting for a dream.

We need to talk about the elephant in the room, er, lobby.
Don’t worry. It’s an expected guest.
The pachyderms marching through the main entrance of the The Bushcamp Company’s Mfuwe Lodge in Zambia, and past the check out desk, are annual visitors.
Each year, dozens of local elephants stomp through the lodge between October and December. Their goal? Fresh fruit snacks!
The grounds of Mfuwe Lodge are dotted with wild mango trees that tend to drop fruits during these months. The animals show up to indulge in this free food and often use the lobby as...

Elephants never forget to take care of their own.
Cameras at the Grand Park Zoo in Seoul, South Korea, caught an amazing moment in the zoo’s elephant exhibit recently.
According to ABC News, an elephant calf was playing beside the pool in the enclosure when it suddenly slipped in. In the footage you can see the baby elephant struggling to get out of the pool — and that’s when the two adult elephants step in.
Together the older, wise elephants are able to step into the pool and carefully guide the panicking calf to safety.

Harry Langdon, that pasty imp, enjoyed a brief renown in the heyday of silent comedy, assisted by his gagman-turned-director Frank Capra, then fired Capra and sank into a decades-long post-fame afterglow as a poverty row clown (briefly emerging to stand in for Laurel opposite Hardy in 1939's Zenobia). This portrait, painted by Capra, is somewhat true, but Capra embroidered it with his own self-aggrandizing version of events: Langdon didn't understand his own screen persona, which had been entirely created for him (mostly by Capra), and so without the guiding influence of greater talents, he sank inevitably into obscurity. Capra created a whole tragedy for his enemy, making Langdon sympathetic yet foolish, a man who achieved brief greatness thanks to the genius of others, but who lost out in the long result of time. Since none of Langdon's films were easily available for study when Capra was speaking, he got away with this.

Leonardo DiCaprio has just signed on for a new starring role: as a passionate animal activist. The three-time Oscar nominee has been named the global ambassador for the International Fund for Animal Welfare (Ifaw).
His first mission? To lead the "Elephants Never Forget" campaign to shut down the cruel international ivory trade. It sounds like an action-adventure flick waiting to happen, but this is real life.
"The ivory trade fuels conflict and strife," DiCaprio said in a statement. "Elephants are killed by poachers so their tusks can be traded for weapons and drugs by international criminal organizations before becoming trinkets and jewelry for consumers. Authorities in 85 countries have seized almost 400 tons of ivory on the black market since the 1989 ivory trade ban."
What's worse, said DiCaprio, "Many people around the world still have no idea that elephants are killed for their ivory tusks, and that's why public education is so important.
