Molly Moo Cow and the Butterflies (1935)
** (out of 4)
Molly Moo Cow is walking through the woods when she comes across a large group of butterflies. These butterflies then go into a magical dance and all is good until a mean butterfly catcher shows up to cause trouble.
This film was part of Burt Gillett's Rainbow Parade cartoons and to speak honestly there's really not too much here story-wise. The biggest problem with this movie is the fact that it's rather boring and that none of the main characters are very interesting. The one saving grace for the film is the beautiful Technicolor. The animation itself is quite good but it's the beautiful color that really jumps off the screen and helps keep the moving going at a nice pace. The dance sequence with the butterflies in the spotlight is certainly the highlight of the picture.
