This was made at a time when the studios used to work through the night and the leading actors were both in plays in London. So after their evening performance they would come out to Twickenham to shoot their parts. And the film was about someone who's meant to be idle!
The dialogue includes early mention of the Channel Tunnel after Hildebrand Pope has a rough channel crossing on the ferry. The Channel Tunnel had been proposed many times over the years, but this mention of it in this 1935 film was one of the earliest on film. The Tunnel was finally opened in May 1994.
