Henri Duschene, a Paris jeweler, becomes engaged to Rose, the dancing queen of the Montmartre cafes. Henri's respectable country uncle is horrified by the proposed match and arranges with the heartless, man-hating Jeanne to make Henri think that Rose has been unfaithful to him. Henri is disillusioned and turns to drink. Henri's mother comes to town and discovers Jeanne's perfidy. She tells Rose everything and moves in with her. Henri gets into a drunken rage and goes to Rose's apartment to avenge himself, but finding his mother there, he falls into a dead faint. Rose and his mother nurse him back to health, and he and Rose are soon married.
