Decent View of Newfoundland

Lure of the Labrador, The (1926)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

Decent documentary takes us to Newfoundland where we're given a guide around some locations. We get to visit a giant waterfall, see an Indian tribe as well as seeing various fishing grounds. Filmmaker Frissell gets us some great footage, although the actual story telling really isn't the strong point here. It seems footage is just being shown for no reason other than to make one wish that they could visit the beautiful locations. This is certainly okay and it really comes off as an early trip to what would eventually become the TravelTalks series from MGM. There's no doubt that the highlight is this amazing waterfall that falls over three-hundred feet.
