The story is that of an American show girl, who becomes a 'half way' girl in a Singapore cafe, when she is stranded in that city. There is a struggle between PhilDouglas, played by Lloyd Hughes, and Jardine over the girl, Doris Kenyon. Jardine is a brute; Phil is a young man broken by the war and a woman. Phil kills a man in a brawl in a Malay Straits cafe and is aided in his escape by the girl, who is banished to Malay Straits by Hughes' father, head of the Straits Settlements secret service, because she will not reveal the whereabouts of Phil. She escapes through Jardine on the steamer on which Phil is a stowaway. Phil comes to her rescue when Jardine attacks her. A fire breaks out in the ship and soon all are fleeing panic-stricken for the lifeboats. A wild leopard escapes from his cage on board, drives the passengers into the sea and takes possession of the remaining lifeboat. But Phil drives the beast overboard and escapes with Miss Kenyon just before the big steamer is blown to pieces when a cargo of benzine explodes. Of course, Miss Kenyon and Hughes are finally married.
