Filming was interrupted when Harold Lloyd, posing for publicity photos, had a prop bomb explode in his hand. He lost two fingers, his face was badly burned and he was temporarily blinded. In subsequent films, he is always seen wearing a prosthetic glove on his injured hand.
Despite receiving a serious injury to his hand during the making of this film, Harold Lloyd continued to do his own stunts throughout his career.
Lloyd's leading lady here, Mildred Davis, also starred opposite him in his best remembered film, Safety Last! (1923). She was also his leading lady off screen - shortly after making this short film, the two wed and remained husband and wife until her death in 1969.
Lloyd tries to get run over several times by a man driving a 1919 Chandler Six. Lloyd and his new bride drive a 1916 Fod Model T to the mansion.
