First British feature-length photoplay; the feature-length documentary With Our King and Queen Through India (1912) preceded it by six months.
This title and A Christmas Carol are amongst the most frequently made films having been made some 21 and 16 times respectively. Separate productions of Oliver Twist were the first full length feature films to be released in Britain in August 1912 and America in June 1912 (previous American features had been released one reel at a time, the thought being that people wouldn't sit and watch a film for more than 30 minutes)
