In the end, the three culprits responsible for her disappearance and murder were Shannon's former boyfriend, Arturo Novoa, Arturo's current girlfriend, Katrina Layton, and Arturo's friend, Andrew Herrmann. Novoa, Layton and Herrmann were all arrested and convicted of various crimes regarding the death of Shannon Graves. They were all sentenced to varying amounts of time in prison.

The hunt for her killer will lead detectives to a mystery that has been buried for over 14 years. In the end, the killer was her husband, Willard Purcell. He was arrested in 2003 and was found guilty at trial. He was sentenced to life in prison, but in 2015, he died in prison of cancer, after serving 12 years for Barbara's murder.
