Was raised in Tunisia in a tradition-oriented family. It was in high school, thanks to her philosophy teacher, who ran a film club, that she developed a taste for the cinema. After graduating from the IDHEC film school in 1968, in the editing department, she went back to live in Tunisia in 1972. Born in Australia to an American father and Australian mother, Noel Coffey was brought to Oakland, California at the age of nineteen months, where he finished high school. He was known as a promising figure skater, winning a number of amateur prizes; after finishing high school, he went professional, appearing with Sonja Henie in one of her shows. With war being declared against Germany and Japan, Noel enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps on July 13, 1942, and soon received a commission as a Second Lieutenant, assigned as co-pilot on the "Buzz Wagon" a B-25 (#41-12928) with the 446th Bombardment Squadron, 321st Bombardment Group, 57th Bombardment wing, 12th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Force. He, with the rest of his crew, was killed during a non-battle related incident when the "Buzz Wagon" crashed in a "Test Hop" near Ain M'Lila (Tunisia/North Africa). Draper attended the University of Southern California, where he won the IC4A championship in the 200 m in 1935. Moreover, at the 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin, Germany Foy ran the third leg for the American 4 x 100 m relay team that won the gold medal with a world record time of 39.8. In addition, Draper reportedly held the world record for the 100 y dash at a time when it would have been a hand-timed 9.4. During World War II Foy served as a pilot on the twin-engine attack bomber A-20B 'Havoc' in Thelepte, Tunisia. On January 4, 1943 Draper and two crew members took off to fly to Fonduck, Tunisia to participate in the battle of Kasserine Pass. Foy and his two crew members never returned from said flight. His date of death is often cited as February 1, 1943. Draper's memory is honored at the North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial that's administered by the American Battle Monuments Commission in Carthage, Tunisia.

- Bruno Corelli (20 August 1918 - 17 February 1983) was an Italian actor. Born in Bologna, after being part of a dramatic society of his hometown Corelli moved to Rome to attend the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. He made his film debut in 1938, when together with several of his classmates he took part to the film "Giuseppe Verdi". Corelli then abandoned the courses to take part in several stage plays and riviste, and also to perform as a mime-dancer. In the aftermath of the Second World War, Corelli started an intense film activity, mostly appearing in supporting roles in comedy films.

It was there that he discovered his passion for art in general: blown glass, theater, cinema, literary writing ... He has thus figured in several French films, including alongside Coluche. He then had several roles in Tunisia, notably in films, and presented a one man show as part of the festival of the Medina of Tunis. Established in Hammamet in 1977, Zoubeir Bornaz opened a craft shop and the first classical blown glass workshop in 1981 in Nabeul, Tunisia, before devoting himself to writing. He published a first book "The Renaissance blown glass in Tunisia ", in 2005.

Taïeb Louhichi is a Tunisian director born on June 16, 1948 in Mareth. After literature and sociology studies which resulted in a doctorate degree, he turned towards cinematography and was trained at the Institut de Formation Cinématographique and Vaugirard Street School in Paris.
He shot several short films such as « Mon village, un village parmi tant d'autres » (My village, a village among others), winner of the Golden Tanit at the Cinematographic Days of Carthage in 1972, « Le Métayer » (The Sharecropper), awarded in many festivals in 1976 and « Carthage, An 12 » (Carthage, year 12). Louhichi released his debut feature film, Shadow of the Earth, in 1982. Shadow of the Earth won several awards at the 8th Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), including best screenplay. Louhichi's debut was also screened by the International Critics' Week in Cannes. In 1987, he shot « Goree, island of grandfather » followed in 1989 by « Layla, my reason » which was selected for official competition at the Venice Film Festival of 1991 and received the Audience Award at the first African Film Festival in Milan.
He was also named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.
Louhichi suffered serious injuries in a 2006 car accident in the United Arab Emirates while visiting the country to chair the jury of an Emirati film festival.
In 2011, he filmed the documentary Les Gens de l'étincelle (People of the Spark) on the Tunisian Revolution. He released L'Enfant du soleil (The Child of the Sun) in 2013. His last feature film was 2017's La Rumeur de l'eau (Water Rumours).
In 2020, his hometown Mareth is organizing the first edition of the Taïeb Louhichi Film Festival.
