One of the great movie villains, Clarence Leroy Van Cleef, Jr. was born in Somerville, New Jersey, to Marion Lavinia (Van Fleet) and Clarence LeRoy Van Cleef, Sr. His parents were of Dutch ancestry. Van Cleef started out as an accountant. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard minesweepers and sub chasers during World War II. After the war he worked as an office administrator, becoming involved in amateur theatrics in his spare time. An audition for a professional role led to a touring company job in "Mr. Roberts". His performance was seen by Stanley Kramer, who cast him as henchman Jack Colby in High Noon (1952), a role that brought him great recognition despite the fact that he had no dialogue. For the next decade, he played a string of memorably villainous characters, primarily in westerns but also in crime dramas such as The Big Combo (1955). His hawk nose and steely, slit eyes seemed destined to keep him always in the realm of heavies, but in the mid 1960s Sergio Leone cast him as the tough but decent Col. Mortimer opposite Clint Eastwood in For a Few Dollars More (1965). A new career as a western hero (or at least anti-hero) opened up, and Van Cleef became an international star, though in films of decreasing quality. In the 1980s, he moved easily into action and martial-arts movies and starred in The Master (1984), a TV series featuring almost non-stop martial arts action. He died of a heart attack in December 1989 and was buried at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills.- Actor

Lynne Marta was born on 30 October 1945 in Somerville, New Jersey, USA. She was an actress, known for Footloose (1984), Joe Kidd (1972) and Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). She was married to Brick Huston. She died on 11 January 2024 in Los Angeles, California, USA.- Tall American character actor with distinctively dark eyebrows and graying hair. The son of an engineer, he was a respected performer on Broadway for thirty years, beginning in 1934. He had a reputation for being a consummate professional and a great storyteller. Despite his military bearing and aristocratic manner, Bourneuf was versatile in just about any part, ranging from Shakespeare to comedy and musicals. He was in the original cast of Eva Le Gallienne's American Repertory Theatre. In 1947, Bourneuf received a special award for his performances from the New York Drama Critics Circle.
Feature films rarely did justice to his abilities as an actor, though he had a rare chance to shine as a grand-standing district attorney in Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (1956). He was, however, better served by television, appearing in numerous guest spots from as early as 1949. - Actor

Nick attended SUNY Purchase with an interest in sound design, music and movies. It was there he met a group of filmmakers, producers, and actors that he would work with for the next decade; producer Bob Gosse, director Hal Hartley; actors Edie Falco, Paul Schulze, Saul Stein, Adam Trese, all of whom Nick would use in his films.
After SUNY, Nick worked on commercials and features in NYC and wrote a few scripts that caught some attention around NYC. In the early 1990's Nick's SUNY friend, Bob Gosse and Larry Meistrich started The Shooting Gallery in downtown NY to be a home for independent filmmakers. With them, Nick would make Laws of Gravity (1992) starring Edie Falco, Adam Trese, and Paul Shulze - heralding a return of New York City cinema verité, for the first time since Lumet and Scorsese in the 1970's.
From there, Nick made New Jersey Drive (1995) starring Shar-Ron Corley, Gabriel Cassius, Saul Stein, and Donald Faison. Spike Lee, and his company; 40 Acres and A Mule, produced. Nick received Independent Spirit Award nominations for best director on both the critically acclaimed, Laws of Gravity and New Jersey Drive. New Jersey Drive would also receive the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1995 along with a nomination and win at the Torino and Berlin festivals.
Next, Nick directed the feature, Illtown, starring Michael Rapaport, Lili Taylor, Adam Trese, Kevin Corrigan, Angela Featherstone, Tony Danza, Isaac Hayes, Paul Schulze, Saul Stein. Of his third, and most experimental feature, Nick told the Village Voice: "The mood and tempo of Illtown express what I felt like at the time. I had to make it to come out the other end. It was incredibly hard, but it was really satisfying working on a more intimate scale again." Former NYC mayor, Ed Koch is claimed to have said of Illtown, "It's like a Picasso. You don't always understand it, but you know it's a masterpiece"
In 1995, after a screening of Laws of Gravity, Nick was approached by Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson to create with them a look and tone for their new series for NBC; Homicide; Life on the Street. Nick would in turn, direct the pilot for the series and subsequent episodes. In 1997, Nick would again collaborate with Fontana in the creation of his new series, Oz, for HBO.
Following Oz, Nick, now deeply ensconced in the world of television - a place he felt comfortable to express his ideas and flourish, found himself on the crest of the golden age of television with the explosion of cable. He has directed some of the best episodic television of the past two decades and enjoyed close collaborative relationships with the creators of Chicago P.D. along with countless others. Nick, a prolific episodic director, recently inspired by the wealth of up-and-coming artists, will produce television and bring projects through his company, Eidophusikan Productions.- Actor

Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on March 14, 1914, Harriet White Medin started out as a dental assistant and cleaned the teeth of young John and Robert Kennedy. After deciding to pursue work in the theater and playing a role on Broadway, she joined the USO and this led to her becoming the first American actress to relocate to post-war Italy and work in Italian films, beginning with Roberto Rossellini's Paisan (1946). Her following role was the lead in a dramatic film about the life of a saint, Genoveffa di Brabante (1947). She never found success as anything but a character actress and was often typecast as starchy, prim housewives and housekeepers. Orson Welles wanted her to play the role of Emilia in his Othello, but Harriet's inability to remain at the beck and call of Welles' shooting schedule forced him to recast the role with Fay Compton. When she realized that her acting career was at a standstill, she began working as a dialogue coach, helping Italian actors with their English. She became the personal assistant of Gina Lollobrigida in this respect for many years, and also assisted directors working in Italy, among them Vittorio De Sica, Joseph Losey, Raoul Walsh and John Huston. She witnessed some extraordinary things in film history, including the death of Tyrone Power on the set of Solomon and Sheba (for which she blamed George Sanders) and the filming of the famous Trevi fountain scene in La Dolce Vita (1960), in which she played Edna, Anita Ekberg's personal assistant. In the early 1960s, Harriet entered the Italian horror boom when they needed actors who could speak English, the better for the movies to seem British or American rather than Italian. She played the housekeepers in Riccardo Freda's _Orribile segreto del Dr. Hichcock, L' (1962), played important red herring parts in Bava's The Whip and the Body (1963) and Blood and Black Lace (1964), and also appeared in Elio Scardamaglia's The Murder Clinic (1966).
After assisting John Huston on Reflections in a Golden Eye, Harriet was persuaded by her friend, director Andrew Marton, to come and live in his guest house in Hollywood. One day, while doing the dishes, she decided that her marriage (to art director Gastone Medin) was over, and she accepted Marton's invitation by walking out on her old life, leaving the sink full of dirty dishes. After relocating to California, she did a fair amount of work in television (in addition to playing Henry Fonda's date in an episode of Family, she appeared on Bonanza, The A-Team, Northern Exposure and many other shows) and low-budget films. As a SAG member, she had to play the blind girl's mother in Schlock (1973) under the pseudonym of "Enrica Blankey." She also played the President of the United States in Death Race 2000 (1975), one of Linda Hamilton's diner customers in The Terminator (1984) and a grocery shopper in The Witches of Eastwick (1987). She narrated the trailer for George Romero's Hungry Wives (Season of the Witch).- Phil Tead was born on 29 September 1893 in Somerville, Massachusetts, USA.
