Taylor Danielle Castro was raised in Southwest Ranches, a rural horse town half an hour from Miami, Florida. She is the granddaughter of Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants with ancestral ties to Spain, and she is one quarter Irish on her father's side.
Taylor's father, Eric Castro, co-founded Banker's Healthcare Group (BHG) with her uncle, Bobby Castro, one year after she was born. Her mother, Barbie Castro, grew up as a model, actress, and singer in Hialeah, where she performed as part of two Spanish singing girl groups: The Chiquillas and The Mystic Angels. Today, Taylor's mother is an actress and a film producer. Taylor is also the younger sister to Rhys Kelly, the jewelry designer and artist who specializes in prosthetic eyeballs.
From K-12, Taylor studied performing arts at American Heritage School. By age 8, she was acting on stage and creating short films, original songs, and a series of books on her desktop computer. Her first on-screen acting role was at age 12. From here, she consistently appeared in a series of killer-themed Lifetime movies throughout her teens, acting alongside Dina Meyer, Casper Van Dien, Jason London, Corin Nemec, Kate Mansi, Carson Rowland, Christy Carlson Romano, and more. Taylor took up music during this time, releasing two full albums before turning 18 with music videos attached that garnered over 25 million views put together.
After graduating high school, Taylor studied film and English at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Eventually, she transferred to SCAD Atlanta to focus her studies on screenwriting while her acting career expanded with roles such as Carla in Hulu's The Girl From Plainville. After writing, directing, and starring in several student films, Taylor wrote a TV pilot adapted from The Haunting of Dylan Klaypool: Whispers in Black Willow by James Alan Ross and renamed it Paranormal Nobodies. With a massive 106-page TV bible and an extensive understanding of her audience, Taylor was able to build a dedicated fan base big enough to gain half a million in funding for the independent pilot's production and the attention of its director, Lindsay Hartley. Taylor also stars in the show as the deeply thoughtful, introverted, and determined protagonist Dylan Klaypool.
Obsessive and nuanced in her art, knowing no bounds for expression's medium, Taylor is one to watch as she remolds what it can look like to be a young woman in the storytelling industry.- Additional Crew
