Ryan was born in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to an Australian missionary family. His father traveled through PNG, Vanuatu, Australia and New Zealand. After high-school in Auckland, New Zealand, Ryan fought competitively in taekwondo and won two tournaments. He worked as a carpenter for six years and was brought to New York in 2008 to be featured in the DKNY Jeans campaign with Behati Prinsloo. His rugged good looks landing him in campaigns for Armani Exchange with Izabel Goulart, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hugo Boss underwear, Trussardi Jeans and Esprit underwear with Gisele Bündchen and Erin Wasson. He's been in TV commercials around the globe for brands such as Paramount pictures, Rock Port, Garnier, Macy's, A+F and Just Jeans.
Since fashion, Ryan is making strides into leading man territory onscreen, playing Jake Bolin the "Flirtual Killer" on MTV's Eye Candy (2015) and appeared in Rough Night (2017) opposite Scarlett Johansson and Kate McKinnon. Ryan will also be seen playing Owen in the TV adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel Confess (2017), written and directed by Elissa Down. Ryan continues to build his body of work spending time writing, directing and developing skills in all areas of the film world.
His short film Left Behind (2014) is about the confrontation between a mother struggling with her depression and a son's unorthodox methods to help her see reason. It was inspired by the loss of loved ones and in an effort to raise awareness for those suffering with mental illnesses and depression. - After starting his working life in a Toowoomba fibreglass factory, Ruthenberg joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and completed a trade as an airframe fitter and engineer. After the RAAF, he had a short stint as a youth worker before starting work in the mining, oil and gas industries, working overseas for several years in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Chile, Canada, and the USA. During this period he directed major marketing and sales projects into heavy industry application and developed innovative "go to market" strategies. Ruthenberg later became Executive Officer of the Lutheran Church in Queensland and in July 2009, Executive Office of the Lutheran Church of Australia, overseeing 85 schools, 45 aged care facilities and 60 early learning centres from 2009-2012.
Ruthenberg was an LNP candidate for the local Queensland seat of Kallangur in 2009, before winning the seat on Campbell Newman's landslide election victory in 2012. He served on the Transport, Local Government and Housing Committee at the start of the parliamentary term and was appointed to the Chairmanship of the Health and Communities Committee in December 2012, staying in that position until January 2015 when he left Parliament. Ruthenberg was appointed General Manager of Scouts Queensland and CEO of Mosaic Foundation, a not-for profit charity group.

Originally born Lionel Renagi William Henry in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, to a Papuan mother and father of mixed English and Scottish ancestry. Auki spent the next two years growing up amongst the natives of New Guinea and travelling with family to what are still some of the most remote and sparsely inhabited wilds of the country's inner region.
Eventually moving to Darwin, capital of Australia's Northern Territory, Auki spent his formative years concentrating on education and competitive swimming, eventually representing state and country in the latter.
After graduating high school and then Information Technology at Charles Darwin University, Auki followed a patriotic calling and enlisted part time with the Australian Army. In 2003 he completed recruit training at ARCT Kapooka and came back to the Northern Territory to serve in the specialised infantry recon unit Norforce for 8 years.
