Timur Bekmambetov is a Kazakh-Russian film director known for vampire franchise Night Watch (2004) and Day Watch (2006).
He was born Timur Nuruakhitovich Bekmambetov on June 25, 1961, in Guryev, Soviet Union (now Atyrau, Kazakhstan). His father, Nuruakhit Bekmambetov, is a manager at Guryev Energy company; his mother, Mira Bogoslavskaya, was a journalist. Young Bekmambetov was raised along the Ural river in Kazakhstan, Soviet Union.
In 1978, aged 17, he moved to Moscow. There from 1978 to 1980 he attended the Moscow Energy Institute, but he was more interested in art and movies. Eventually, he dropped out of college, and joined the cultural milieu around such artists as Anatoli Zverev and Oskar Rabin. Then, from 1982 to 1987 he studied painting at Tashkent Theatrical Art Institute, graduating in 1987 as artist of theatre and film. From 1987 to 1988 he served in the Red Army stationed at artillery division near Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan. Then he worked as set designer at "Ilkhom" Drama Theatre in Tashkent, and at Uzbek Film Studio.
Since 1989 he has been directing commercials. In 1992 Bekmambetov made his directorial and writing debut with Peshawar Waltz (1994), a film about the Soviet war in Afghanistan which received awards at several festivals in Europe. From 1992 to 1997 he made 18 commercials for the Russian bank "Imperial" and was named best young director of 1997 by Russian Film Academy. In 1999 he started his own film company, Bazelevs Production.
His big break came with the success of the vampire franchise Night Watch (2004) and Day Watch (2006), which he directed during 2003 - 2005. Both films became international blockbusters, and received several awards and nominations. The third installment, Twilight Watch (2009), is slated for release in 2009.
Since 2005, Bekmambetov has been working in Hollywood, writing, directing and producing several flicks, such as Wanted (2008), 9 (2009), and The Red Star. Back in Russia, he made another success directing The Irony of Fate 2 (2007), a romantic comedy based on the Soviet era characters and capitalizing on nostalgia among some of the post-Soviet audiences.
Timur Bekmambetov established himself as a master of dense narrative. His films often surprise the viewers with eerie details, hectic pace and unusual twists and turns, and remain a challenge even for experienced audiences.- Actress

Yankovsky was named best actor in a 1984 reader poll by Soviet Screen for his role in "In Love Because He Wants to Be." He was awarded the State Prize in 1987 for his role in "Flying Asleep and Awake." In 1989 he received the Vasiliev State Prize for his role in "The Kreutzer Sonata." Peter Zhmutski was born in the former Soviet Union, in what is today the country of Kazakhstan. Growing up in the capital city of Almaty with a population over 2 million people, Zhmutski's life has always included diverse forms of art. His extensive educational background includes graduating from six different schools. Zhmutski studied and mastered the crafts of music, sports, foreign languages, acting, film, video and television, and even professional writing.
Zhmutski came to the United States of America in 1998 having completed an 8-year music degree and holding a diploma from the Linguistic Gymnasia of Almaty. From childhood, Zhmutski has always been active in stage performances. In Kansas he studied theatre and received his Associate degree from Fort Scott Community College, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Zhmutski moved on to Pittsburg State University to study Communications with an emphasis in Broadcasting. Back home in Kazakhstan, Zhmutski hosted National Television shows for children, which made him feel quite at home with the craft of Broadcasting. After producing several TV shows at PSU, winning the highest awards for his Public Service Announcements and receiving his bachelor degree Magna Cum Laude, Zhmutski opened his own production company "PZ Production" and began making films.
"PZ Production" started in 2002. Zhmutski has already directed and produced 13 shorts, 3 feature films, 3 documentaries, 1 mini series, numerous corporate, training, television projects and music videos. As an actor in major roles, he has participated in more than 25 films and 10 television and web projects. Several of Zhumtski's 20 international merits and awards were presented in Oklahoma at the Barebones International Film Festival and Script-2-Screen International Film Festival. Zhmutski also received 2 Platinum Remi, 1 Gold Remi, and 1 Silver Remi awards in Houston at the 3rd oldest International Film Festival - Worldfest where such directors as Spielberg, Lynch, Cohen Brothers, Ang Lee, Ridley Scott and many others have been recognized with awards.
Zhmutski moved to Oklahoma in 2003. He received his Master of Professional Writing diploma from the University of Oklahoma where Zhmutski also taught film and video courses for two years. In Oklahoma, Zhmutski produced films together with Golden Wing Films, Darkwood Productions, New Ad Age International, National Film Studios, National Film Project Co., Gon Productions and V-DIGI Media.
Zhmutski also produced 15 original individual music CDs and scored 16 films. Over the past 7 years, Zhmutski has also given concerts of his original solo performances, most of which were done as benefit events. His last big performance was a Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert held in Norman, Oklahoma in December of 2005.
Zhmutski has been invited to develop projects for different production companies across the United States. In 2006 he worked as a creative producer/director at 21st-Century Studios in Jacksonville Florida. From 2007 to 2009 he developed projects for Hollywood companies in California.
Zhmutski returned to Norman, Oklahoma in January 2009 with his wife and daughter. He is a published writer. Today Zhmutski is teamed up with internationally acclaimed Oscar-winning filmmakers to develop and produce projects in the motion picture industry.
In 2013 Zhmutski produced and directed another feature film in Oklahoma called "Project Ghost Town" which will premiere in 2014. In February 2013 Zhmutski produced the first 3D feature film shot in Oklahoma called "Higher Mission" starring Casper Van Dien and Catherine Oxenberg.- Actor

Zhaidarbek Kunguzhinov (Jaydok) was born on August 6th, 1969 in Kazakhstan. He is the most famous stunt coordinator, fight coordinator and horse master in CIS and Central Asia. Yuri Kaplan was born on June 25, 1988 in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. He has three sisters and one half-sister. At the age of eight Yuri moved to Israel for one year. At nine he moved to Canada, after which he moved back and forth between Canada and Israel throughout his adolescence. Through this he gained a strong sense of Hebrew and Canadian culture while maintaining a balance of Russian language and culture at home. Yuri is fluent in English, Russian and Hebrew. From 2009-2012 Yuri served in the Israeli Defense Forces in the Combat Engineering Unit. During his time in the forces he moved up in rank from Private to Corporal, and graduated as Sergeant.
From a young age Yuri loved film. He loved watching story lines unfold and creating his own scenarios in his mind. At first Yuri loved creating his own plots and twists on the movies that he watched but those scenarios branched out from the movies that he was watching and began revolving around his own life events; scenarios of what could have or would have been. Yuri started seeing film as a means of self-reflection and self-expression.
Since 2013 Yuri has been learning as much as possible about the process of film making. He began as a background actor and has since studied in various acting and stunt schools in the Toronto area. Yuri is certified with Fight Directors Canada as an Intermediate Actor Combatant in small sword, long sword, quarterstaff, rapier and dagger, and single sword. Yuri has also studied acting at Armstrong Acting Studios, Second City and Sears & Switzer among others.
In June 2014 Yuri started doing stunts when he met Goran Stjepanovic. A few months later he produced Last Chance where he was in charge of various crew jobs while performing stunts. In the fall of 2014 Yuri played a role in the short film Bevy of Brollies for the Toronto 48 Hour Film Festival.
In the Spring of 2015 Yuri had his first key role in a short film for Sheridan College. A Week later he had another main role in a short film for York University.
In early 2015 Yuri finally stepped into his first lead role in the feature film, Can't Escape. While performing this role he was also involved in the writing and pre-production process as well.
Since playing his lead role as Dmitri Kuznitskiy, Yuri has he taken on a few other lead roles in short films. Most recently he has stepped into yet another role in a feature film playing the male lead in the action-comedy Morse Code.- Director

Born in Aksuat village in the northern part of Kazakhstan. Graduated from Almaty technical college in 1979. Following the military service, he took up film studies in directing at the Moscow's prestigious Film School (VGIK). He was one of the young Kazakh talents who was chosen to attend the workshop of well-known Russian director Sergei Solovyov in 1989. The group went on to establish the "new wave" of Kazakh cinema.
Aprymov made his first full feature film Last Stop at the age of 28. Kijan (Last Stop) (1992) received international acclaim but angered the natives of his village, who were shocked at his portrayal of their real lives.
Aprymov's second film The Hypnotist was never released.
The film Aksuat (1998) revealed again his keen eye for realistic detail and was successful at the 1998 Eurasia Film Festival in Almaty (Kazakhstan), after which it was screened at the 1999 International Berlin Film Festival. The film won Audience Award at Nantes Three Continents Film Festival 1999 in France.
In 1999 he directs Three Brothers - this poignant tale about the gulf between childhood fantasy and stark reality. The film was screened at the 2000 International Berlin Film Festival. It was awarded at Tokyo International Film Festival 2000. The film won Holden Award for the Best Script, Jury Special Prize at the International Feature Film Competition, and was nominated for Prize of the City of Torino Best Film - International Feature Film.
Returning to the familiar theme of village life, Serik Aprymov offers a beautifully rendered Kazakh interpretation of the classic coming-of-age film in The Hunter (2004). In 2003 the film participated in Cannes Film Festival 2003 in Camera d'Or Special Mention program.- Actor
