In the late 1890s Porter worked as both a projectionist and mechanic, eventually becoming director and cameraman for the Edison Manufacturing Company. Influenced by both the "Brighton school" and the story films of Georges Méliès, Porter went on to make important shorts such as Life of an American Fireman (1903) and The Great Train Robbery (1903). In them, he helped to develop the modern concept of continuity editing, paving the way for D.W. Griffith who would expand on Porter's discovery that the unit of film structure was the shot rather than the scene. Porter, in an attempt to resist the new industrial system born out of the popularity of nickelodeons, left Edison in 1909 to form his own production company which he eventually sold in 1912.- Actor

Matt McHugh was born Mathew O. McHugh on January 22, 1894 in Connellsville, PA. He was born into a show business family, joining his parents, brother Frank and sister Kitty on the stage as soon as he learned to talk. When Matt was fourteen, he performed an act with Kitty, but by 1930, the family had abandoned show business altogether. McHugh had already made his Broadway debut as Vincent Jones in Elmer Rice's Street Scenes (1929), and in 1931, he would come to Hollywood and repeat that stage role. He appeared with Edward Brophy as one of the Rollo Brothers in Tod Browning's Freaks (1932), and continued to get sizable film assignments, most notably the bourgeois Italian bridegroom Francesco in Laurel and Hardy's Fra Diavolo (The Devil's Brother) in 1933.
Matt strongly resembled his more-famous brother, Frank, who had previously signed a contract in 1930 with the Warner Brothers Stock Company. Frank portrayed a variety of wise-cracking sidekicks with a sly wit and charming laugh, becoming a very popular character actor well into the 1950's. Matt approached his screen image differently, projecting an abrasive, sardonic screen image, despite his Pennsylvania origins. He usually performed his roles with a Brooklyn accent, and was often cast as rough-edged characters that were explicitly from Brooklyn, like cab drivers, bartenders and mechanics. For example, in the film Star Spangled Banner (1941), his one scene is an extended monologue during the climactic "Old Glory" sequence, in which he plays a character who literally embodies the spirit of Brooklyn.
McHugh eventually appeared in over 200 films between 1931 and 1955, primarily in small cameo parts, but his best opportunities came in the 1940's with supporting roles in the numerous two-reel short comedies of Andy Clyde, Hugh Herbert, Walter Catlett, The Three Stooges and many others, usually cast as a lazy or caustic brother-in-law.

Robert is a Los Angeles-based writer/director.
Born to Robert and Dale Etta Hensley of Ohiopyle, he was raised before the backdrop of the lush Laurel Highlands. Even growing up in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, Robert felt a certain connection to the entertainment industry. His father's lineage produced several iconic performers, most notably Patsy Cline. Throughout his academic career, Robert excelled in the arts, and sought opportunities to work in and around the theatre, developing a keen interest in working with actors.
With over two decades of experience working in entertainment; first in theatre and then film, Robert began his career as a costume designer, later transitioning to makeup and special effects, and now film-making. His work on Gatsby in Hollywood by Joshua Rebell was nominated for Best Costumes at the 2003 Garland Awards. As a makeup artist, his talent and skills with cosmetics have allowed him to travel and create styles for some of the most famous faces in the world for red carpets, magazine covers, television shows, and on film.
While writing had always been a hobby, a dare led Robert to write his first play, The Dark Sisters, a short adaptation of a Grimm Brothers' fairy tale. It was originally produced as part of George Larkin's Grimm Fest at the MET Theatre in Los Angeles in 2003, and was later published as part of a Grimm Fest anthology by JAC Publishing. His next play, the full-length dark comedy Turning Out, was produced in Los Angeles by the Blank Theatre Company, and was also published by JAC. He later self-published a collection of short plays, Death, Life and a Creme Filled Center, which had been produced as a staged reading at Anthony Meindl's Meta Theatre.
His first self-published work of fiction was the YA novella, Leo's Love Story, an LGBT-themed, sci-fi teen romance. It was nominated for the YA Fiction Award at the 2013 Los Angeles Book Awards. He most recently published a collection of short screenplays, Short Attention Span.
Robert's first produced screenplay, the short film Texas Toast, was produced by Alyson Fouse and directed by Chane't Johnson. Over the past ten years, he has written, directed and produced a variety of scenes and short films, including the drama A Mother's Love, starring veteran character actress Veronica Alicino, which can now be viewed on his YouTube channel. His award-winning short film, The Taste of Salt, screened in five festivals in five months, winning five awards, and is now available for streaming on Amazon. His most recent short, the award-winning contemporary ghost story, Homewrecker, which was inspired by the traditional fable of "La Llorona," is currently screening at festivals.
