DVD Review: The Shield - The Complete Sixth Season

28 August 2008 1:30 PM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

It seems the fifth season of "The Shield" was supposed to be the final season, but midway through FX ordered another ten episodes and then decided to just go ahead and order another season. So, when this DVD says it is the sixth season apparently the majority of the people involved with the show consider it something of a 5.1, but as far as all things are considered what is to become the seventh season will be the final season and considering everything left up in the air at the end of the sixth season it is going to be quite the finale. Now don't go and get that opening paragraph confused with me thinking the sixth season of "The Shield" is some kind of a masterpiece, because in fact it really isn't. This is a show that is running on fumes and based on the interviews in the disc one

'Heroes' Season 2 is Better than Season 1

25 August 2008 2:47 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

Photo: Universal Home Entertainment This is part one of my Blu-ray review for both "Heroes" Season One and Season Two, both of which hit stores on August 26, 2008. In this part I will discuss my opinion of the story and leave the specs and feature commentary for part two, while touching on a little bit of the special features on the DVD and Blu-ray copies of season two in this part. From everything I heard concerning the second season of "Heroes" I expected a slow paced and boring return to the world I first found with the DVD/HD DVD release last year. However, don't believe what you have heard. Anyone that says the second season of "Heroes" is no good has it dead wrong. The second season is so much more progressive in terms of character involvement and time spent developing characters. Whereas the first season was more concerned with

The Shield Axed

16 July 2008 7:07 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Gritty cop drama The Shield is to end after one more season.

The show, which stars Michael Chiklis as a no-nonsense cop, has been critically acclaimed throughout its six-season run in America, and that success has materialised abroad, where the show has become a cult hit in Europe.

Movie stars Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker have both been past regulars on the show.

The entire seventh season of the drama, including the finale, has already been shot. It will air this autumn in America.

Del Toro to produce 'Hater' adaptation

21 May 2008 4:55 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Guillermo del Toro will co-produce an adaptation of David Moody's 2006 novel Hater.

The Universal thriller revolves around an epidemic of random violence in which ordinary people lash out remorselessly without warning.

Glen Mazzara (The Shield) is on board to write the script.

Del Toro told Variety: "What I loved about Hater is it recognises the reality that we live in, where it is incredibly easy to polarise, to hate for gender, race, age."

Whitaker Stabbed As A Bouncer

7 May 2008 12:28 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker was stabbed while working as a doorman at a nightclub - but lived to tell the tale.

The Last King of Scotland star is used to violence on the movie set - acting in films such as Blown Away and The Shield - but wasn't so happy when he sustained a multitude of injuries in real-life.

He says, "In real life - from when I used to do a bit of bouncing - I have been stabbed a few times.

"It was a guy who was a little... I don't really want to talk about it. He was just pissed (annoyed) at something going on and I was trying to control him, so ultimately he pulled a knife on me. I've got stabs and bites from people. I haven't been shot though!"

'Jericho' Actresses Seek Out Other Acting Gigs

2 May 2008 1:00 AM, PDT | From buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news

Jericho<Pamela-Reed-Sprague-Grayden.jpg" alt="" />When fans were able to bring back Jericho by bombarding CBS with tons of nuts, they thought they made an impression. However, the series has now become double dead with the second season cut short after just seven episodes. Fans were disappointed, and a few are still hopeful that they could pull off another save-the-show campaign. The fact that the show was shut down twice says something about Jericho. The low-rated show just can't survive on CBS.

Nonetheless, some are hoping that Comcast will enter the picture and save the day--or the show, for that matter. Recently, there have been talks that Comcast may enter a similar deal like that of DirecTV for another struggling but highly acclaimed show, Friday Night Lights. But now that the future of Jericho is terribly bleak, the actors and actresses have resigned to pursuing other endeavors than waiting it off in the meantime.
