Actor Richard Widmark Dies

Hollywood actor Richard Widmark has died at the age of 93. He passed away at his home in Connecticut on Monday after a long illness, according his wife Susan Blanchard. The Minnesota-born star enjoyed a career spanning more than four decades, during which he made over 70 films. He made his silver screen debut in 1947, aged 33, as a psychopathic killer in Kiss Of Death - a role which earned him an Oscar nomination and scooped him a Golden Globe prize as well. Widmark went on to star in 1950s classics like Night And The City, Broken Lance and appeared alongside Marilyn Monroe in 1952's Don't Bother To Knock. He will also be remembered for his roles in Judgement At Nuremberg (1961) and 1964's Cheyenne Autumn. Widmark made his final big-screen outing in 1991 thriller True Colors. He is survived by his second wife Blanchard and a daughter from his first marriage to writer Jean Hazlewood.
Robin Williams Divorcing
Comedian Robin Williams is heading for a divorce - his wife Marsha has filed papers in a California court to end their marriage. Producer Marsha Garces Williams, who had been married to the actor for 19 years, filed the petition in San Francisco last Friday citing irreconcilable differences for the split. The pair first met while Williams was still married to his first wife Valerie and Marsha was working as the couple's nanny. They married in 1989, just months after the breakdown of his first union. Robin and Marsha often worked together - she produced his films Mrs. Doubtfire and Patch Adams - and they founded Blue Wolf Productions and have supported the organization Doctors Without Borders. Combs' Lawyer Speaks Out About Times Article
Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs' lawyer has attacked the publisher of the Los Angeles Times newspaper for ignoring a letter he sent, warning against running an article that linked the rap mogul to a 1994 attack on slain star Tupac Shakur. The attorney, Howard Weitzman, urged Times boss David Hiller to dismiss reporter Chuck Phillips' March 17 article, which stated Combs had advance knowledge of an "ambush" of Shakur. The controversial article also offered up new information about Shakur's murder in 1996. Phillips has stood by his article, despite suggestions his report was based on fake documents, but now Weitzman has gone public with the warning letter he sent the publisher. The lawyer admits he tried to talk the Times out of publishing the article after reading it online, but they did so anyway. In his letter to Hiller, Weitzman reveals he asked the publisher to "refrain from reprinting" the article, calling for the "false accusation" to "immediately be retracted." Weitzman tells Tmz.com, "The Times completely ignored my letter, did nothing to correct their defamatory article, and never held the reporter, Chuck Philips, to the Code Of Ethics the paper supposedly had set for its writers. We will continue to seek a retraction and to pursue appropriate remedies given the egregious and reckless conduct of Mr. Philips and the L.A. Times."
Reeves Attorneys Seek Mediation

Hollywood star Keanu Reeves' attorneys are stepping up their bid to reach a settlement with the paparazzo who's accusing the actor of knocking him down with his car. Snapper Alison Silva filed suit against Reeves at Los Angeles Superior Court in November, claiming the Speed star pulled out of a parking space in his 1996 Porsche 911 and struck him as he was attempting to snap the actor. The alleged incident - which occurred in March last year - resulted in Silva requiring on-the-scene medical treatment at the Rancho Palos Verdes, California, parking lot. As part of his case, Silva is seeking reparations for the property damage, loss of earnings, medical expenses, attorney fees and undisclosed damages. However, Reeves' lawyer Jeffrey Redd appeared in court on Tuesday, requesting the negligence case be moved to mediation. Redd is hoping to formally move to strike the cameraman's request for sizable punitive damages at a May 5 hearing.
'Crash' Producer's Oscar Fight Killed At Appeal

A Los Angeles appeals court has ruled Crash producer Bob Yari cannot sue the Producers Guild Of America (PGA) and the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences (AMPAS) in an effort to be awarded an Oscar retroactively. Yari was one of six producers on Crash, but only two producers are eligible to be nominated in the Best Picture category - an Academy Award the movie won in March 2006. The PGA selected writer/director/producer Haggis and Cathy Schulman for Crash, a decision approved by Oscar bosses at AMPAS. Yari, who helped finance the film, was furious when he learned he and three other producers had been left out, and took legal action in February 2006. A court ruled that same year that private organizations can make their own decisions regarding awards, a decision upheld by the 2nd District Court Of Appeals on Tuesday. Yari describes the ruling as "unfortunate." As well as Best Picture, Crash also won Oscars for Best Screenplay (Haggis) and Best Editing ( Hughes Winborne).
Winehouse Going Back to Rehab?
Amy Winehouse is reportedly considering going back into rehab - fearing life in London holds "too much temptation". The star was admitted to a clinic in January to finally kick her drug addiction - but checked out after just two weeks. Winehouse has since been photographed looking distinctly unhealthy; she came down with contagious skin condition impetigo earlier this month which left her with sores all over her face, and she has also been snapped with her arms covered in cuts - prompting fears she may have resorted to self-harming. And British newspaper The Sun is now reporting the 24-year-old has conceded she needs further treatment, possibly in an international facility. A source tells the publication: "Amy has admitted she needs to check into rehab again. There are too many temptations for her in the U.K. - people around her in London are making it impossible for her to stay clean for any length of time. Her management considered sending her to a clinic in Israel but are now looking further afield. They are assessing a clinic in Cape Town in South Africa."
Spears Spoiled Chambers' Hospital Stay
Grey's Anatomy star Justin Chambers blames Britney Spears for shining the media spotlight on his private battle with exhaustion. The actor checked himself into UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles for a break just days before Spears was admitted into the same hospital in a media frenzy. And Chambers insists only his family and close friends would have known about his health issues if the hospital hadn't become a hotspot for reporters and the paparazzi. The 37-year-old tells the new issue of Life & Style magazine, "I only got attention because Britney came. Otherwise, it would've been private." Even Chambers' cast mates didn't know about the actor's hospital stay - until the media alerted them.
Jackson Paints Railings Ahead of 40th Anniversary of King's Murder

Actor Samuel L. Jackson painted the railings on the motel balcony where civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed in 1968 on Tuesday. The Pulp Fiction star helped clean up the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee ahead of the 40th anniversary of King's murder next week. The civil rights icon was shot dead there by James Earl Ray on April 4, 1968. Jackson, 59, said, "Being a Tennessean, being part of the civil rights movement, growing up through it, being in it, of it, around it, knowing the significance of preserving our history and having a place people can come to and an emotionally connection is very important." Bosses at the National Civil Rights Museum are expecting an influx of visitors to mark the anniversary of King's death next week.
Timberlake Is Named ESPY Host

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake has been hired to present U.S. network ESPN's annual Espy Awards. The ceremony aims to celebrate the best and funniest sporting moments over the year, and Timberlake is nervous at the prospect of messing up at the awards show. He says, "I'll do my best to deliver a great show, as I do not want to be roughed up backstage by these athletes who are bigger, faster and stronger than me." The ESPY Awards are set to take place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on July 20.

Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan has settled a lawsuit with her former manager after he sued her for firing him. The actress was accused of firing Rob Lee in 2004 after he helped her secure her role in the show. On Tuesday, Sheridan's lawyer Paul Sorrell says she and Lee settled the claim after mediation. No further details of the settlement are available.
