Kristen Bell Joins 'Heroes'

Former Veronica Mars actress Kristen Bell is set to join the cast of Heroes for the upcoming season. Bell, 27, had been rumored to be considering a role on Lost since the cancellation of Veronica Mars in the third season earlier this year, but chose Heroes instead. She will play Elle, a woman with mysterious links to two characters' pasts, according to trade magazine Variety.

Schreiber & Watts Involved in Paparazzi Fracas

New parents Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts became involved in a scuffle with the paparazzi in Malibu, California on Sunday, with the actor losing his temper and pushing one photographer away. A limping Schreiber was carrying the couple's three-week-old son into Greek restaurant Taverna Tony's when he placed the baby carrier down when one snapper got too close. Turning round to confront the photographer, Schreiber shouted, "You f**king disgust me. It's a f**king child and I have one f**king foot." The Manchurian Candidate actor then chased away several other photographers before entering the restaurant for lunch. But when the couple emerged after their meal, they were again surrounded by paparazzi, forcing Watts to protest "Are you out of your mind?" as she tried to make way for Schreiber to place their baby in a waiting car. One photographer then taunts Schreiber saying, "You better sit down before I knock your a** out." The incident, video footage of which is posted on website Tmz.com, is the second time in recent weeks Watts has had a problem with over-zealous paparazzi. Last week, she received police protection when pursuing photographers caused a safety scare at a Los Angeles supermarket.

Potter and Spider-Man Up for U.K. National Movie Awards

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix and Spider-Man 3 have been nominated for a host of prizes at Britain's inaugural National Movie Awards. U.K. TV network ITV is launching the new awards show following the success of their National Television Awards. Both events invite the public to vote for winners. Keira Knightley (Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End), Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man 3), Emma Watson (Harry Potter), Megan Fox (Transformers), Eva Green and Dame Judi Dench (Casino Royale) are up for the Best Actress at the September 28 London ceremony. Bruce Willis (Live Free Or Die Hard), Daniel Craig (Casino Royale), Shia LeBoeuf (Transformers), Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man 3), Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom (Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End), Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) are fighting for the Best Actor trophy. Meanwhile Flushed Away, Happy Feet, Shrek The Third and The Simpsons Movie have been nominated for Best Animation.

Trump Keen To Reunite Spears, Lohan and Hilton on 'The Apprentice'

U.S property tycoon Donald Trump is desperate to reunite Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton on a celebrity version of The Apprentice. The businessman is keen to give the trio an entrepreneurial chance on the hit TV show, insisting the experience would be "a positive thing for them to do" - and concedes socialite Hilton has already been in contact with show executives to secure a place on the series. He tells the New York Post, "We're negotiating with Britney right now. Can you imagine her doing it? We're not sure what will happen. She's a f**king mess. And that little reality show she had did nothing. But she likes the idea of being on television and I think she'd be great. (Hilton) wants to be on, and we're thinking about it, but I don't know if we're going to do it. (Lohan is) another f**king mess. We haven't asked her yet, but I'm going to call her this week. It would a positive thing for her to do... for all of them."

TV Stars Raise Over $200,000 For AIDS Research

TV stars including America Ferrara, Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer helped raise over $200,000 for AIDS research in Los Angeles on Saturday. The Hot In Hollywood event, which was held at the Henry Fonda Theater and was hosted by My Name Is Earl star Jaime Pressly, saw the actors take part in a variety show that included auctions. Ugly Betty star Ferrara bid $35,000 for a Toyota Prius hybrid car. She says, "I already drive a hybrid Highlander, so now I have two hybrids." Elsewhere, House co-stars Spencer and Morrison attended together, despite last week announcing they'd called off their engagement. Spencer bid $6,000 for Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones memorabilia, while Morrison spent $7,000 on a lithograph of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol. Other highlights included Ugly Betty stars Michael Urie and Becki Newton singing "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" dressed as Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand.

Paltrow: "Brad & Angelina Brought the Paparazzi"

Gwyneth Paltrow was less-than-pleased to discover she was in Chicago, Illinois at the same time as her ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt and his girlfriend Angelina Jolie on Friday - because their presence drastically increased the number of paparazzi. Paltrow was in the city to promote her new perfume and was staying at The Peninsula Chicago, the same hotel as Pitt and Jolie are currently residing in while Jolie shoots scenes for her upcoming movie Wanted. As a result, Paltrow found herself dodging more photographers than she'd expected. She says, "When Brad and Angelina leave, won't they (the paparazzi) go too? Don't you think they sort of blow in and out with the celebs?"

Cowell Writing 'American Idol' Movie

Music mogul Simon Cowell is bringing TV show American Idol to the big screen, promising the upcoming movie will be "very, very realistic" like 1976 Oscar winner Rocky. Like American Idol itself, Cowell plans to cast the lead roles in the film - called Star Struck - through open auditions across the U.S. He tells American news show Extra, "It is called Starstruck. We're writing the script as we talk. It is about 10 contestants who enter a gigantic singing contest. It's like Rocky. It's about good versus evil, and it will be very, very realistic. I'm going to cast the lead parts through an open audition process across America. So if you get through the auditions, and you get a part in this movie, it's a huge, huge deal."

West: "People Think I'm Gay After Calling for an End to Rap Homophobia"

Rapper Kanye West has no regrets about speaking out against homophobia in hip-hop music, even though some people now assume he's gay. But West, who in 2005 called for an end to homophobia in the rap community, admits he still wouldn't feel comfortable socializing in a gay club, an attitude he attributes to his upbringing in Chicago, Illinois. The 30-year-old says, "Speaking out against hip-hop homophobia, some people were like 'Oh, Kanye must be gay! Look at the way he's dressing! And why would he speak about it? He's a gay rapper.' And my whole point is, I wouldn't have spoke on that if I was gay or if I was in the closet. I would have stayed so far away from it. And I'm still homophobic myself to a certain extent. You know, I wouldn't go to a gay parade and feel comfortable. I wouldn't ever go to a gay club or something and just be chillin' and grab a drink. It's being in the entertainment world, I meet so many different gay people who are actually nice people. Where I came from, Chicago, being black and being a hip-hop artist, we used to really disrespect gay people. And the thing is, we can't get close to them with a 10-foot pole. And I realized, 'Wow, how ignorant has this been?'"

Allen: "I'll Never Go Back to America"

British pop star Lily Allen insists she will never return to America following a recent U.S. working visa revocation. The singer was unable to renew her working visa in the States recently, reportedly because of her assault on a photographer in London earlier this year. But Allen insists she doesn't care. Speaking at England's V Festival on Sunday, she says, "I'll never go back there. The immigration officers are a bunch of w**kers."

Linney Is Engaged

Actress Laura Linney is to wed her longtime boyfriend Marc Schauer. The 43-year-old You Can Count On Me star accepted Schauer's proposal last week, although the couple has yet to set a wedding date. Her spokesperson says, "They are very happy." The marriage will be Linney's second; she and first husband David Adkins divorced in 2000.
