Imus Suspended Over Racist Comment

US radio talk show host Don Imus has been suspended from his Imus In The Morning show after making an on-air racial slur during his syndicated show last week. The disgraced presenter was attacked by his own bosses at WFAN-AM after a name calling incident directed at the players on Rutgers University women's basketball team during his Thursday broadcast. He apologized for his comments on Friday, but that didn't stop African-American leaders in America calling for his dismissal over the weekend. Imus appeared on Reverend Al Sharpton's radio show yesterday, where he apologized again and accepted his comments shouldn't be dismissed. The radio personality's suspension will begin next Monday.

Magazine Fires Back at Berry Over Suicide Story

Parade magazine bosses have reacted angrily to Halle Berry's claims they dredged up a 10-year-old story about the actress' 1997 suicide attempt and tried to make it fresh. In a recent WENN interview, Berry accused the weekend supplement of "regurgitating" the story, prompting other publications and agencies to ask her to talk about her darkest moment all over again. But Parade editors insist the Oscar winner readily chatted about the day she started the process of poisoning herself with carbon monoxide in her car after the end of her first marriage to Baseball player David Justice. The magazine's spokeswoman Alexis Collado says, "All of the quotes in Parade profile on Halle Berry came from a candid sit-down interview between Ms. Berry and Parade writer Emily Listfield on January 25, 2007. Ms. Berry talked very freely about the challenges she has faced in her life, including her failed marriages and suicide attempt. It is unfortunate that Ms. Berry has chosen to respond to media interest by backing away from what she originally told Parade. Anyone who actually read the article is sure to see it as a very positive profile of a strong woman who has overcome many challenges in her life and is now on a clear path to happiness."

Watts Talks About Pregnancy

King Kong star Naomi Watts has broken her silence over her pregnancy with boyfriend Liev Schreiber, declaring she is "glowing" with excitement. Watts' partner Schreiber confirmed their baby news on US talk show Late Night With Conan O'Brien in February after fashion house Escada revealed her pregnancy following the Oscars. Watts says, "It is true that I am pregnant. It's a little frightening talking about it. This is the first time that I have said it out loud to a journalist. You know, I kind of wanted to keep it private because there is just so much to worry about. I had morning sickness for four weeks at the beginning and I feel congested which is linked to my pregnancy, but otherwise I am at the 'glowing stage.'"

Rhys-Meyers' Monarch Makeover

Mission: Impossible III star Jonathan Rhys-Meyers has defended his casting as famously overweight English monarch King Henry VIII, insisting US audiences don't want to watch an obese royal. The Irish heartthrob is playing the 16th century tyrant - who married six times - in Showtime TV series The Tudors, which shows a sexed-up side to Tudor England. Rhys-Meyers says, "You're trying to sell a historical period drama to a country like America, you don't want a big, fat, 250 pounds, red haired guy with a beard. It doesn't let people embrace the fantastic monarch he was, because they're not attracted to the package. Heroes do not look like Henry VIII. That is just the world we live in."

Ledger Talks About Marriage

Brokeback Mountain stars Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams have vowed to let the world know when they finally marry, by flashing their wedding rings at photographers. The pair, parents to one year old daughter Matilda, are furiously protective of their privacy and refuse to respond to rumors about their impending nuptials. But Ledger insists they'll make a subtle announcement when the time is right. The Australian star says, "We try not to talk about it, to keep it our own kind of thing. It's obviously very sacred. People write stories regardless. The stories haven't necessarily been bad. So we're letting people run with their assumptions." When asked what announcement the couple will make, Ledger replies, "Photos of us wearing our wedding rings."

Travolta Admits Hanks Envy

Screen legend John Travolta occasionally wrestles bouts of jealousy - over Tom Hanks' career. The Saturday Night Fever hunk confesses some of his biggest career mistakes were turning down roles Hanks subsequently made into hits. But despite his errors of judgment, the 53-year-old is content his other acting projects have made him one of Tinseltown's greatest stars. He says, "I wouldn't trade (my career) for anyone's except Tom Hanks,' I don't think. Other than Forrest Gump and The Green Mile, which I was offered and should have done, and Splash was written for me, I still like my career better because of what I specifically contribute to it." Travolta also turned down the role that went to Richard Gere in An Officer And A Gentleman.

Campbell Humbled by Community Service

Naomi Campbell's recent community service was a "humbling" experience for the supermodel. In her first full interview since her five-day stint as a cleaner at New York's sanitation department, the British model admits she learned a lot of lessons on the job. She tells news show Access Hollywood, "It was humbling and I just got to be with people and learn a lot about people that I would never really get to meet in my job. Everyone was well mannered and very straight up with me and I was straight up with them." Campbell, who was sentenced to serve the community as punishment for throwing a mobile phone at former housekeeper Ana Scolavino, reveals she "swept" and "cleaned walls and tables and offices" as part of her daily grind. But the model insists she didn't clean toilets, as previously reported. Campbell does, however, admit reports she made a special friend during her community service are true: "He's become a friend of mine - he and his wife... I got to have dinner with he (sic) and his wife during that week, which was really nice." And the model now admits she's in a great place in her life after curbing her temper tantrums: "I'm in an honest place with myself. I think, like, seven years ago, I was in a place of denial, which I'm not in anymore. I think I've had to look at the people I have around me and I need honesty in my life today... I don't have any yes people left in my life."

Penn To Cross Over for Just Three Days

Sean Penn has joined the all-star cast of immigration drama Crossing Over, but he'll only spend three days on the set filming a cameo as a US border patrol agent. Harrison Ford will star in the harrowing new film, as a crack enforcement agent seeking out illegal immigrants. The movie, ironically directed by naturalized US citizen Wayne Kramer - who was born in South Africa - will also feature Ray Liotta. In one scene, an Australian actress offers herself up sexually to an immigration officer to land a green card, while Ford's character drags a Mexican mother, waiting for her young son, from her home without allowing her to say goodbye.

Johansson Dating Reynolds?

The Black Dahlia actress Scarlett Johansson has sparked reports she's back in the dating game after spending the Easter weekend with Alanis Morissette's ex-fiance Ryan Reynolds. Ironically, Reynolds has also been romantically linked to his Blade: Trinity co-star Jessica Biel, who was Johansson's reported love rival when both were allegedly dating pop star Justin Timberlake. Johansson, who has insisted she never dated Timberlake, spent the weekend with Reynolds in New York City. After dining at Manhattan restaurant Odeon last Saturday night, the couple joined friends for lunch at the Carlyle hotel on Sunday.

Shue Plans Tennis Career

Leaving Las Vegas star Elisabeth Shue is in training to become a professional tennis player. The Oscar-nominated actress admits she has always been pretty good at the sport and now she's working on a second career on the courts of America. She explains, "It's always been a dream of mine. I don't think I'll be playing at the (tennis tournament) US Open, but, by September, I'd like to be competing professionally, even at the lowest level. I've been training so hard, now I feel like more of a tennis player than an actress."
