'Brokeback' Scores BAFTAs Quadruple

Brokeback Mountain was the big winner at last night's Orange British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), scooping Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor honors. Taiwanese film-maker Ang Lee was presented with the David Lean Award For Achievement In Direction, while Jake Gyllenhaal was honored for his performance - beating off competition from George Clooney, who left empty-handed despite being nominated in four categories. Gyllenhaal's co-star Heath Ledger was beaten to the Best Actor Award by Capote actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Golden Globe-winner Reese Witherspoon was named Best Actress for her performance in Walk The Line. Zambian-born star Thandie Newton won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her powerful portrayal of a racially abused woman in Crash, and writer/director Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco won the Best Original Screenplay Award. The Constant Gardener scooped a staggering ten nominations last month, but was widely snubbed by the British Academy, winning only the Best Editing Award. The adaptation of John Le Carre's political thriller was also bested for the Alexander Korda Award For The Outstanding British Film Of The Year by Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit. Memoirs Of A Geisha picked up three awards: Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, and composer John Williams was honored with The Anthony Asquith Award For Achievement In Film Music for his score for the period epic.

BAFTA Stars Brave British Weather

Hollywood glamour had to contend with traditional British rainy weather at the Baftas as attending stars dodged puddles outside London's Odeon Leicester Square cinema. Many stars made last minute fashion changes and turned to black to avoid their outfits showing stains from the relentless downpour, most notably Renee Zellweger and Neve Campbell. Red carpet TV interviewer Ruby Wax even handed out hot water bottles, gloves and scarves to arriving celebrities. But some stars were more determined to persevere - and Charlize Theron and Thandie Newton dazzled the rain-soaked red-carpet crowd with colorful designer dresses. Theron joked after retreating to the safety of the venue, "A soggy carpet, which is very English."

Clooney Teases Press About Pitt-Jolie Wedding Rumors

George Clooney has taunted journalists in Britain by hinting Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may be marrying at his Italian home. Recent reports claim the superstar couple are planning to tie the knot near Lake Como, after they booked into a luxury hotel in northern Italy. But Clooney has a house on the lake, and insists they would stay with him if they were planning to marry there. He told reporters at last night's BAFTAs, "Believe me, if Brad was getting married in Italy, he'd be staying at my home. So you better tell your helicopters not to fly over the hotel, they should fly over my house instead."

Pitt and Aniston Settle Divorce Details

Former celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have concluded their $60 million divorce settlement. The Rumor Has It star will assume sole ownership off their $29 million Beverly Hills mansion, while the Fight Club actor will take control of their lucrative film company Plan B Productions. Aniston will retain a "minor stake" in the production firm, which is believed to be worth more than $50 million after a string of 12 successful independent movie releases, including Tim Burton's Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. The high-profile pair agreed the share-out through their lawyers just days before Aniston's 37th birthday last Saturday.

Craig's Teeth Knocked Out

New James Bond star Daniel Craig was left toothless and bleeding when a fight scene for upcoming movie Casino Royale went horribly wrong. The British actor, who was shooting in Prague, Czech Republic, had his London-based dentist flown out to fix caps onto his broken teeth. Craig now has to sport gum shields during action scenes for protection. An insider says, "Daniel was filming with some minor actors when he got hit in the face. He was reeling from a heavy blow and staggered back holding his face. He put his hand to his mouth but the blood started to seep through his fingers - it was horrible."

Lachey Demands Cash From Simpson

Movie star Jessica Simpson faces having to hand over jewelry and a substantial amount of her earnings to estranged husband Nick Lachey, according to divorce papers. Lachey is reportedly seeking spousal support from the The Dukes Of Hazzard beauty, although Simpson has filed a petition asking the court not to comply. Lachey, 32, has requested "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal Effects," a share of Simpson's earnings from after the point of separation and other assets. Simpson, who filed for divorce on December 16, reportedly earned in excess of $30 million last year.

Olsen Twins Model for Badgley Mischka

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are the latest celebrities to become models after shooting the autumn ad campaign for designer Badgley Mischka. The twin millionaires shot the campaign at New York City's St. Regis Hotel with famed fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon. Designer Mark Badgley says, "Ashley and Mary-Kate have an amazing sense of fashion that intrigued us. They reflect the younger, edgier and more sensual glamour that we have incorporated into our fall collection." The 19-year-olds traded their regular bohemian-chic wardrobe for glamorous gowns and jewels during the photo shoot. Creative Director Dari Marder says the designers were looking for "Modern day Cinderellas, just edgier." The Olsens only requirements for the shoot according to Marder, were "lots of fruits and vegetables. And of course, coffee." Marder made sure when she was scouting locations that the twins favorite coffee shop, Starbucks, was nearby so they could have easy access to their favorite beverage, triple venti low-fat lattes.

Clooney's Batsuit for Sale

George Clooney's Batman costume from the 1997 box office flop Batman And Robin is expected to reach $100,000 at auction. The suit comes with an enviable list of extras - including nipples, the famous cape, a cowl, gloves, a handy utility belt, and of course, the bat ears. Joe Madalena of auction house Profiles in History plans to sell off the outfit at the end of March alongside a collection of other movie memorabilia - and although Clooney's film was a disaster, Maddalena has high hopes for the Batsuit. He says, "Clooney is hot. He is the leader of an unofficial Rat Pack. People have fallen in love with him. He is the bad boy we always love. The nominations also help."

Bee Gees Brothers Reunite

Feuding Bee Gees brothers Barry Gibb and Robin Gibb reunited on stage this past Saturday night for the first time since their brother Maurice Gibb died. The Gibbs performed at a private concert to raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute at their annual Love and Hope event at Miami, Florida's Diplomat Hotel. The brothers played Bee Gees hits "Staying Alive" and "How Deep Is Your Love," and performed a touching tribute to their late sibling with the song "Don't Forget To Remember," before ending a stunning set with "Tragedy" and "You Should Be Dancin'". The siblings, who have been at war over Maurice's legacy and a planned tribute album, were all smiles when they took to the stage together.

Spears Heads to New Orleans for Mardi Gras

Pop princess Britney Spears will be heading to New Orleans, Louisiana to attend the first Mardi Gras celebration since Hurricane Katrina hit last summer. The Louisiana native will appear on US show Good Morning America on February 28, when they broadcast live from the city. Spears will help support recovery efforts and will have a special surprise, to be announced, for local fans.
