Crowe to Wed on Birthday

Hollywood star Russell Crowe will marry fiancee Danielle Spencer on his 39th birthday, it has been confirmed. The Oscar-winning actor will wed the blonde beauty in the family chapel on his ranch in New South Wales on April 7. His publicist, Wendy Day, says, "It's definitely April 7 on his property at Nana Glen. It's not a Hollywood, star-studded affair ... it's a family and friends affair for about 80 guests." The Gladiator star has been busy building an extension onto the chapel, first used for his brother Terry's wedding last year.

Julia Upset with Danny's Flirting

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder's eight-month marriage is on shaky grounds following a bust-up about the cameraman's flirting with young actress Kirsten Dunst. Roberts reportedly blew up into a rage when she learned of her husband's flirting ways with her Mona Lisa Smile co-star Dunst - who is romancing Donnie Darko star Jake Gyllenhaal. A set insider has told American tabloid National Enquirer, "A rumor circulated around the set that Julia barged in on Danny and Kirsten when they were in her trailer. Kirsten later apologized to Julia, saying, 'Nothing really happened, ' but Julia wasn't buying it." Friends say the couple have since patched up their differences in a bid to have a baby together, but friends fear the tempestuous couple are sure for more showdowns. A pal says, "It could all blow up tomorrow and Julia could stalk out for good."

'Bridget Jones 2' Back on Track

Insiders on the second Bridget Jones film are confidently predicting the project will go into production by the end of the summer. The second installment of the luckless singleton's adventures has suffered a number of setbacks - leading lady Renee Zellweger and cast mates Hugh Grant and Colin Firth are all yet to sign on to do it. They are reportedly waiting until a finished version of the script is available before they confirm. Also, original director Sharon Maguire will not resume her duties, she has been replaced by To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar director Beeban Kidron. However, things are now improving for the project, screenwriter Adam Brooks has agreed to polish the script , Andrew Davis' adaptation of Helen Fielding's book The Edge Of Reason. A source says, "Renee had the title role and her name about the title with Bridget Jones' Diary and she won her first Academy Award nomination for it. So the bar had been set high. You only want to do a second film if the bar is raised just as high, if not higher." An insider adds, "It'll happen. Adam Brooks did a script called Wimbledon and everyone likes it, and he'll do a great job on The Edge of Reason. This is a movie everyone wants to see and Renee knows it."

Colin Farrell Links Up with Kate Beckinsale

Hollywood star Colin Farrell has been enjoying secret meetings with newly- single Pearl Harbor actress Kate Beckinsale. The pair met at London's Sanderson Hotel on Friday night and onlookers described their behavior as very "intimate." A source close to Colin, who was recently linked to Britney Spears, tells British tabloid News Of The World, "They're very fond of each other. It's too early to say they're in a relationship. But they'll be seeing each other again for definite. After all, they're both single." Bad-boy Colin has been named as the father of model Kim Bordenave's unborn child, while Kate has recently split from long-term love Michael Sheen .

Carmen Electra Insists She Requested Courtroom Dismissal

Sexy actress Carmen Electra is upset over reports she was dismissed from jury duty for causing a disturbance - because she was the one who asked to be let go. Reports emerged last month that the former Baywatch beauty was released after a day because of the effect she had on her star-struck fellow jurors. And while she admits that she was flocked with requests from female members of the Los Angeles jury to make surprise phone calls to their husbands and boyfriends, she was the one who asked to be set free from her obligations. She says, "I was trying to take a little nap and I had Fox News on and they said, 'Find out why Carmen Electra got booted from a courtroom, ' and I'm going, 'What the hell are they talking about?' I was called in for jury duty about two months ago. I postponed it so many times because I didn't wanna go. They called my name as one of the last people so I waited all day and I had a Pussycat Dolls show later that night. I really wanted to get outta there so badly. I was dismissed because I pulled a sidebar and just said I didn't wanna be there, so they let me go."

Sheen's Visa Ad Pulled

Charlie and Martin Sheen's popular Visa Card advertisement has been pulled from American TV - reportedly because of the elder actor's outspoken Anti- War stance. According to TV insiders, the Apocalypse Now star's high-profile campaigning against a US led invasion of Iraq has signaled the end of his and his son's lucrative deal with the credit card company. One says, "Visa has been getting tons of complaints based on his war stance. Visa was running the Sheen ads with the Yao Ming ads. But last week, they pulled Sheen's ad right after all the hullabaloo over his Anti- War remarks hit the press." However a spokesperson for Visa explains, "After airing for more than four months, the Visa Usa television commercial featuring Martin and Charlie Sheen concluded its run on March 11. As with many Visa commercials, this spot aired for a specific period of time, and is now being rotated out of the advertising lineup. Mr. Sheen is part of a long list of celebrities that we use or have used - from Yao Ming to Bob Dole to Kevin Bacon - to promote the Visa Check Card. While these celebrities play a role in our spots, they in no way represent the views of Visa. Likewise, Visa does not use its advertising to make political statements, and neither the spot nor the conclusion of its run should be interpreted as one."

Redgrave Triumphs Over Cancer

Actress Lynn Redgrave has won her battle with breast cancer - after secretly fighting the killer condition for the last six months. The brave 60-year-old continued to work in an off-Broadway play during her ordeal - which she only told close family about. She explains, "Thanks to a series of new and encouraging treatments, I am lucky enough to be cancer-free. I am able to maintain my full schedule and am extremely busy, having just finished a run in the off-Broadway play Exonerated. I am currently in rehearsal for Alan Bennett's Talking Heads and also looking forward to bringing my own play, The Mandrake Root, to New York in the autumn." A source adds that Redgrave was absolutely insistent that news of her illness should not be made public. The family friend says, "She swore everybody to secrecy because the last thing she wanted was people feeling sorry for her. She did feel sorry for herself for about two days and then she began to fight. Thankfully, she was told her cancer was probably caught early."

Dixie Chicks Enrage Native Fans

Controversial comments by country supergroup the Dixie Chicks have led to a flood of complaints from their Texan fans. During a London concert last week lead singer Natalie Maines told the crowd, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas." But her criticism of the American President did not go down well with listeners from their home state of Texas. A flood of calls came into Nashville radio station WKDF-FM, some asking for a boycott of the band's music. But Maines is sticking to her guns. She says, "I feel the President is ignoring the opinion of many in the US and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration, and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view."

Paltrow's Stalker Wins Appeal to Seek Freedom

A man convicted of stalking Gwyneth Paltrow has won his appeal to seek conditional release from a high-security psychiatric hospital. Three California appeal judges said Dante Michael Soiu was wrongly denied a hearing on his bid for a placement with the release program. The appeal judges have ordered a new hearing. Soiu, 52, sent hundreds of letters, emails and packages to the Ted & Sylvia actress and even showed up at her parents' home. During his trial in Los Angeles Shakespeare In Love star Paltrow testified she was very fearful of him. Soiu was convicted in December 2000 and was sent to the high-security facility after Judge O'Neill ruled he was insane.

Zellweger Misses a Step

Actress Renee Zellweger was left red-faced after attempts to flash her dance moves at fans ended in embarrassment. The Oscar-nominated screen star was spotted by a group of dance students at Starbucks coffee house in Studio City, California. When they begged to see a few moves from her hit movie Chicago, Zellweger put down her coffee, kicked up her heels - and fell on her bottom. The Texas native managed to laugh it off - and opted to give her fans autographs instead.

Movie star Tim Allen and his wife of 20 years Laura Diebel have settled their divorce agreement days before the split was due to become a messy trial. Diebel filed for a legal separation from the Big Trouble star in 1999 and the couple have been fighting ever since over the terms of their divorce. Although full details are being kept under wraps, it's understood the couple will share custody of their 13-year-old daughter Kady.
