Townshend: Email Will Clear Me

The Who star Pete Townshend claims to have email proof that he contacted internet watchdogs to complain about pedophile websites. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) initially denied they had been in contact with the under-fire "Pinball Wizard" guitarist, who has been questioned by police over child porn allegations. But the IWF have now admitted to Townshend's lawyers that he did email them three times last year. Townshend says he even got a reply. Pete, 57, says, "You may recall that a couple of weeks ago, representatives of the Internet Watch Foundation told the press and news stations they had never heard from me. I, of course, know I did communicate with them several times last year and they have now supplied to us copies of my emails to them - one in August, the rest November. My lawyers have written to the IWF founder Mark Stephens, who was adamant they had never heard from me, asking for an explanation." Police raided Townshend's home in Chiswick, South West London, and took computers this month. But it is believed officers have found no evidence he looked at child pornography, other than on the occasions he admitted viewing sites to allegedly research a book and campaign against porn. A source close to Townshend says, "We think this shows Pete's name will be cleared. He insists he's told the truth all along and his intentions were good, if not a little naive. This proves that."

Britney Dumps Durst for Farrell

Pop beauty Britney Spears didn't just split up with Limp Bizkit rocker Fred Durst - she dumped him. Spears, 21, had been dating Durst for a few weeks but according to magazine Us Weekly, the pop princess decided to call an end to the affair. A source says of Durst, "He got dumped, and he's pretty upset about it." When Durst and Spears were spotted at Hollywood hotspot the Ivar on January 22, they were already showing signs of a troubled relationship. An eyewitness says, "They stayed separate for most of the night until he went up to the VIP area and danced with her for a couple of songs. She then left, and he went back to the regular part of the club." Britney already appears to have found a replacement for Durst though - she was spotted on the arm of Irish actor Colin Farrell at the Hollywood premiere of his new movie The Recruit yesterday. Durst also has his sights set on another woman - he has since posted an item on his website talking about his dreams of Angelina Jolie.

Crowe to Miss BAFTAs

Controversial actor Russell Crowe will miss this year's BAFTAs - despite bosses giving him the chance to do a poetry reading. The New Zealand-born star caused outrage last year when he pinned a TV producer to a wall after a poem he was reading was cut from the broadcast. But organizers of the prestigious event - the British equivalent of the Oscars - had asked the Gladiator hunk to present the Best Actor gong as a peace offering. However, Crowe says he is too busy preparing for his wedding to Danielle Spencer to attend this year's event in Leicester Square next month. According to British newspaper The Sun though, there is a different reason for Crowe's no-show. A pal says, "His people believe some months out of the spotlight will help people forget his hellraiser reputation. He doesn't want to be asked about his bust-up last year - or the fight he had recently in Zuma restaurant in London."

Sadie Frost in Clinic for Post Natal Depression

Actress Sadie Frost is being treated in an exclusive clinic for "severe" post natal depression. The wife of Hollywood heartthrob Jude Law has checked into London's $1,500-a-night Cromwell Hospital and Jude has flown home from America to be at her side. Speaking for the first time about the state of the couple's relationship, the Road To Perdition star admitted he and Sadie - whose fourth baby Rudy was born five weeks premature in September - had problems. But he vowed to do everything in his power to save their five-year marriage. Speaking via his publicist Simon Halls, Jude said, "When Sadie arrived back in England at the weekend she went straight into a clinic. She has been suffering a severe bout of post-natal depression. Her treatment does not involve taking drugs - just seeing doctors, talking and recuperating. She is there because she is feeling very blue." The 30-year-old star added, "This depression can be a serious thing and it has left Sadie feeling very sad and run down and she is just trying to get a handle on it. She has had so much on her plate recently and realizes she needs help and to catch her breath. Not only does she have to look after four children - including a baby - she runs a successful business and has been overseeing the refurbishment of our new house." Halls continued, "Sadie will be in the clinic for a couple of days more and it is doing her the power of good. Her stay there is already paying dividends." Jude and Bram Stoker's Dracula star Sadie have three children together - Rafferty, seven, Iris, two, and four-month-old Rudy. Sadie also has a 12-year-old son, Finlay, from her marriage to Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp.

Halle Berry's Dad Dies

Movie star Halle Berry's dad has died - before the pair had the chance to end their feud. The Oscar-winning Monster's Ball actress never forgave alcoholic Jerome for beating her mum Judith and sister Heidi in drunken rages and walking out on the family when Halle was four. Jerome, who had Parkinson's disease, died of a heart attack in Cleveland, Ohio. The screen sex symbol's half-sister, Renee, tells British newspaper The Sun, "It's terribly sad. He wasn't the best father when we were growing up but his other children forgave him. Dad would have died a happier man if he'd known that Halle had accepted too that he made mistakes."

Damon Denies Engagement

Hollywood heartthrob Matt Damon insists he isn't engaged to his long-term girlfriend - despite reports he announced it at a charity bash hosted by George Clooney. The Talented Mr Ripley star was alleged to have told pals about his proposal to Ben Affleck's former personal assistant Odessa Whitmire last December, and showed off the diamond ring he bought for her. However, the sexy star scoffs at reports he is planning to wed Whitmore. He says, "At least my family don't call anymore when they hear about it. After the first and second times they were on the phone, but they've kind of eased off now."

Billy's Wife Is Worried for Their Daughter's Safety

Billy Joel's ex-wife Christie Brinkley fears for the safety of her child with the rocker, after his car crash at the weekend. The former model was spotted taking photographs of the wreckage of Joel's Mercedes as it was being towed to an impound in Long Island, New York - after he hit a tree near his home on Saturday - prompting many to think she was helping to ease his insurance woes as he recovered at home. But Brinkley has since released a statement addressing her ex-husband's driving ability, suggesting that she's more concerned about the safety of the couple's daughter Alexa. Brinkley states, "The seat Alexa was sitting in only hours before this latest crash was completely decimated. I'm worried about Billy, but like any mother would be, I am alarmed and concerned about my child's safety by this frightening pattern of accidents." Joel was allegedly involved in another car crash last June just before he checked into a Connecticut rehab.

Madonna: I Love England

Pop queen Madonna has hit back at speculation that Britain depresses her and that she is leaving the country for Los Angeles. Press reports in the UK have claimed the Material Girl is fed-up with the weather in Britain and has decided to live permanently in sunny California with husband Guy Ritchie and kids Lourdes and Rocco. But her spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg says there's no truth in it at all - the Ray Of Light star is just as much of an Anglophile as she ever was. She says, "Madonna has made no secret of her love for London and all things English. I mean, come on, she married an Englishman and has spoken frequently (sometimes in an English accent!) in interviews and to friends about how happy she is living in England. Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie have homes in England and the US. They are currently at their Los Angeles home and plan to return to London in the spring for a long stay. The children are schooled in both countries. Reports that Madonna gets depressed in London are not accurate."

Culkin Set to Wed Again?

Hollywood actor Macaulay Culkin is set to wed screen beauty Mila Kunis - after just eight months of romance. Home Alone star Culkin, who was briefly married to actress Rachel Miner, began dating That '70s Show stunner Kunis in the summer of 2002. And now sources tell American magazine Us Weekly that 22-year-old Culkin may be ready to walk down the aisle once more. According to a source, Culkin bought 19-year-old Kunis an elaborate Christmas gift: "A diamond necklace from Tiffany & Co. for a few thousand dollars." The source adds, "They're very serious about each other." So far, Kunis and Culkin already share custody of a dog, says the source, who explains, "Because they're bi-coastal, one week the dog's with him and one week the dog's with her. It's their own mini-family."

Brad Pitt "Not Perfect" Shock

It's the news all men wanted to hear - far from being perfect, gorgeous film star Brad Pitt has dandruff. The Fight Club actor is desired by women worldwide and is regularly voted one of the sexiest guys alive. He's also got stacks of money, is acclaimed for his acting and is married to stunning Friends star Jennifer Aniston. But according to Britain's The Sun tabloid, the movie hunk has a single flaw - since letting his hair grow long and straggly he's suffered from a flaking scalp. The problem reached a head at a bash where Brad, 39, reportedly covered Aniston in white flakes. The screen beauty, 34, is said to have flew into a rage when the actor showered her $22,000 Dolce & Gabbana dress with dandruff at the Golden Globe awards earlier this month. Jennifer, who once modeled for L'Oreal hair products, was sitting next to Brad at the Los Angeles event. A source says, "Brad was laughing so hard at a joke he started to shake and was swaying his hair all over the place, not realizing he was showering Jennifer with white flakes. Next minute a row broke out as she tried to brush it off. She was fuming." A waiter adds, "After that she hardly spoke a word to Brad all night."
