Linda Hamilton Signs For T3

Actress Linda Hamilton is reprizing her role as Sarah Connor for the latest Terminator sequel. The action movie's lead Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed the pretty brunette would be back to play the feisty mother to Arnie's cyborg assassin's target John, originally played by troubled star Edward Furlong, in T3. Arnold explains, "She is coming back, but as a past experience, not driving the current story forward. She's in flashbacks. I think director Jonathan Mostow felt like he didn't want to have the exact same cast and be limited in the story. Jonathan was very adamant that he wanted the kid now to be 22 or 23, the mother has died, and let's move on, let's have him be on his own, let's let him have a girlfriend."

Director Plans Robocop Comeback

Robocop director Paul Verhoeven has unveiled plans to bring the cyborg cop back to life. Verhoeven made the first movie of a three-film series in 1987 - with Peter Weller as the crime fighting robot. Two sequels were later made by other directors, one with Weller as Robocop. And now the Dutch movie-maker says he wants to bring Weller back to make a proper sequel, and he has a 95 page petition collected by an internet fan site to help convince movie giant MGM to back the project. Verhoeven says, "About four weeks ago I was having lunch with Ed Neumeier, writer of Robocop and Starship Troopers, and during our conversation we got into Robocop again and we both felt that it would be interesting to do something again, especially that we are now 15 years later in time. I would not redo the first one, I would probably do a sequel, the first real sequel. I think if you were to do it now you would have to reflect the world we live in now. I would start from scratch and find an innovative story, that would satisfy all the people that are basically longing, like me, for a good sequel."

Stephen King To Quit

Horror writer Stephen King is to retire after completing his next five books. The famed author is planning to stop writing and end his career in publishing, promising fans just five more projects, two of which are already scheduled for 2002 - including new novel From A Buick Eight. King explains, "You get to a point where you get to the edges of a room, and you can go back and go where you've been and basically recycle stuff. I've seen it in my own work. People when they read Buick Eight are going to think Christine. It's about a car that's not normal, OK? You can either continue to go on, or say I left when I was still on top of my game. I left when I was still holding the ball, instead of it holding me." King's Rose Red, adapted into an ABC miniseries, has become a big hit on TV in America - its debut on Sunday drew in almost 20 million viewers. He adds, "I don't want to finish up like Harold Robbins," referring to the pulp novelist who started with well-reviewed works, later suffered a damaging stroke and ended his career in steep decline. "That's my nightmare."

Eddie Murphy's Child Number Six

Comedian Eddie Murphy is the proud father of his fifth child with wife Nicole. The happy couple are recovering after the birth of baby girl, Bella Zahra, in Los Angeles on Wednesday - who weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Both parents said they were, "overjoyed about this newest addition to our family." Bella joins Murphy's four children with Nicole - Bria, 12, Myles, 10, Shayne, 7, and Zola, 2 as well as his son Christian from a previous relationship.

Fisher And Reynolds Sell Off Family Memorabilia

Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher and her movie veteran mom Debbie Reynolds are offering fans the chance to buy their family memorabilia. The pair have teamed up with online auction site Sothebys.Com to sell off items which were clogging up their closets. Fisher is selling off jewellery given to her by her ex-husband, music star Paul Simon, including a pearl necklace and a diamond watch, as well as sought after Star Wars memorabilia. Her mom is giving away her wedding ring from her marriage to Eddie Fisher, who left her for Elizabeth Taylor. She says, "I had the ring for all these years and I was thinking, 'Why do I have that?' That's just silly. Someone else will enjoy that." Proceeds from the auction, which ends on February 7 will benefit Hollywood's Motion Picture Museum.

Cruz Escapes Desperate Fans

Penélope Cruz has discovered what it's like to be dating one of the most lusted after men in Hollywood. Cruz is beginning to find it hard coping with the attention of eager Tom Cruise fans - desperate to find out juicy gossip about the hunky star. The actress had to flee from a Hollywood coffee-shop recently when a horde of pushy women bombarded her with questions about whether Cruise is a good kisser and what he is like in bed. Penelope was so embarrassed about the cheeky remarks she grabbed her bag and ran out of the shop.

Rachel Weisz The Warrior Queen

After fighting her way to the top of the box-office charts in The Mummy and its big-budget sequel, Rachel Weisz is taking on a new tough-girl role - as Queen Boudicca, an anti-Roman freedom fighter during the Roman occupation of the British isles. Weisz will team up with fellow British star Dougray Scott for the flick - dubbed Warrior Queen. The actress will play feisty rebellion leader Boudicca, with Scott taking the role of her macho lover. The Warner Brothers movie will tell the tale of the first-century uprising against the Romans led by Boudicca, the head of the Iceni tribe who revolted against the occupying forces after her husband died and her daughters were raped.

Cruise Lobbies For German Recognition Of Scientology

Actor Tom Cruise took time out of promoting Vanilla Sky in Europe to lobby an American ambassador to fight for recognition of Scientology in Germany. Tom has followed the controversial religion since 1990 and even claimed it cured him of his dyslexia. He met Dan Coats, a former US senator in the German capital city Berlin last week to put across an appeal for helping the organization's status in Germany. The European country refuses to recognize Scientology as a church, saying it masquerades as a religion to make money and bars members from government jobs.

Cusack For President

A campaign to elect John Cusack as President of the United States has been launched on the internet. On the site, www.cusackforpresident.com, fans can fill out a form to register their support for the star. They can then order a T-shirt with the slogan "Cusack for Prez" emblazoned across it and distribute flyers - which the site urges them to give to friends and movie fans waiting in movie lines. The site proclaims, "He made the tough decisions in Grosse Pointe Blank. He couldn't be bought in Eight Men Out. He's cooler than John Malkovich. And we like his politics so far."

Raquel's Missing Ring Upsets Husband

Movie star Raquel Welch is in trouble with her husband after forgetting to wear her wedding ring on TV. The actress appeared on breakfast show Good Morning America on Monday to promote the new TV series American Family and left her jewellery at home - upsetting her fourth husband Richard Palmer. She says, "My husband watched the show and said, 'Where's the wedding ring?' I felt so bad. When you do acting parts you can't wear your own personal jewellery, like a wedding band, because mine wouldn't go with my character, who's not married, so I had to take it off. I dread to leave it in a trailer because somebody might come by and steal it. They have security but you still never know. I have a little special heart-shaped box next to my make-up mirror that I put my rings in at home before I go to the studio. I forgot to put it on because I was so busy. He said, 'Do you still love me?'"
