On TikTok, a fan of Chappell Roan’s shared a video of the singer performing “Pink Pony Club” in 2021 at a Los Angeles fundraiser. Roan is by herself, playing the keyboard in front of small audience and not as glammed up as she is nowadays on stage.
Roan’s rapidly growing fanbase has been stitching this video with their own footage of the 26-year-old playing the song three years later, this time either while opening for friend Olivia Rodrigo in arenas or for one of her own sold out headlining shows.

She’s about to turn 21 next month, but when it comes to matters of the human heart, singer songwriter actress Olivia Rodrigo is wise beyond her years.
When it comes to spinning poetry from fractured relationships and trampled hearts, Rodrigo is arguably in the same league as the mega Princess of Pop, Taylor Swift.
“In my albums, they’re very diaristic in nature,” she tells Deadline’s Crew Call podcast in a special episode co-hosted by Katie Campione.
Nowhere is this more evident than in her Oscar shortlisted end-credits song from Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds Snakes, “Can’t Catch Me Now,” which is written from the point of view of Rachel Zegler’s nomadic bluegrass singer-turned-fierce pen fighter, Lucy Gray Baird and the emotional release and triumph she beams in after breaking off her romance with Hunger Games mentor Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), who we...

Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is set to dominate the original song race. Oscar voters will likely pick all three contenders from the blockbuster for the original song shortlist: Billie Eilish’s tear-inducing ballad “What Was I Made For,” Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” and Ryan Gosling’s pitiful song of feeling inadequate “I’m Just Ken.”
Mark Ronson and songwriting partner Andrew Wyatt wrote the latter two, while Eilish partnered with brother Finneas on her tune. However, with only two nominations allowed in this category, it will be left to the music branch to decide which two they pick.
Lenny Kravitz eyes a spot on the list with “Road to Freedom,” a song he penned for George C. Wolfe’s “Rustin.” The soulful song’s horns and trombones are key to this composition, which accompanies the film’s end credits.

This year the Grammys moved the Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical categories into the general field. The way voting works, academy members are only allowed to vote in three fields besides general, and can only vote in 10 categories between those three fields. Songwriter of the Year was its own field when that award was introduced last year, and most members probably didn’t want to burn one of their three fields to vote for just one award. Now all voters can participate in these contests, hopefully generating a more representative list of who excelled behind the scenes. This year in particular has a diverse and exciting list of possible contenders in both categories, so let’s consider who might make the cut in the songwriting race.

Grammy Award-winning artiste Olivia Rodrigo has released her second album ‘Guts’, featuring her two premium hits ‘Vampire’ and ‘Bad Idea Right?’ The album sees the 20-year old singer expanding on her artistry, and pushing new horizons as she defies conventional pop music norms and take a more experimental side, featuring synthesisers, electric guitars, sampling while giving the whole LP, a bit of a pop rock flavour as opposed to going pure pop, like she did on her debut album ‘Sour’.
While ‘Vampire’ reached No.1 on Billboard 100 and Spotify upon its release in June, ‘Bad Idea Right?’ on its release back in August, has so far already reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 100, in the US and UK.

Olivia Rodrigo has revealed her anticipated second studio album, Guts. Listen to the project below via Apple Music or Spotify.
Featuring singles “vampire” (which we named Song of the Week) and “bad idea right?”, Guts was produced by Daniel Nigro, the boardsman who also helmed Rodrigo’s 2021 smash debut Sour.
Rodrigo blew up by delivering emphatic anthems all about teen angst — from watching your first love move onto someone new to simply existing in that weird phase of life where you’re gaining more autonomy, but also can’t even parallel park. From what she’s shared about Guts, you can expect her second album to do more of the same.
“For me, this album is about growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life,” the artist said. “I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20 — it was such...

Olivia Rodrigo knocked it out of the park on her first try, with her instant classic of a debut, Sour. So expectations have been sky-high for her next move. But the suspense is over: Her excellent new Guts is another instant classic, with her most ambitious, intimate, and messy songs yet. Olivia’s pop-punk bangers are full of killer lines (“I wanna meet your mom, just to tell her her son sucks”), but she pushes deeper in powerful ballads like “Logical.” All over Guts, she’s so witty, so pissed off,...

Olivia Rodrigo says she “didn’t really pay attention” to criticisms of her calling out the Supreme Court on stage after it overturned the abortion rights ruling of Roe v. Wade last year, adding that “expressing your rage and dissatisfaction” is what music’s about.
The Sour singer and former High School Music: The Musical: The Series star spoke about the moment for a lengthy profile in The Guardian ahead of the release of her latest album, Guts. Her brief but impassioned speech took place ahead of her appearing onstage to sing “Fuck You” with Lily Allen during the 2022 Glastonbury music festival.
Recalling the experience, Rodrigo — who had memorized the speech, according to Allen — said she had already asked the British pop singer if they could duet the song when, a day before they were set to go onstage, the decision came down.
