While the ’90s were filled with acclaimed stories, surrounding A-list comic characters, including Batman and Spider-man, there was a lack of teenage heroes in the mainstream landscape. To fill that gap, Dwayne McDuffie created the teenage sensation Static Shock, who would go on to enjoy his own animated show in the 2000s, which would go on for 4 seasons.
Although originally created for Milestone Media, the comic-book company pioneered by McDuffie, the character was later incorporated into the Dcau through its animated series. According to McDuffie, the teenage hero took heavy inspiration from the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Westside Gunn’s critically acclaimed album Pray For Paris came out of a creative stream that took hold of the Griselda co-founder during Paris Fashion Week 2020. He tells Rolling Stone that his new album And Then You Pray For Me, the sequel to Pray For Paris coming on October 13th, came from a similar artistic rush he felt this year.
“I didn’t feel [inspiration] like that since Virgil invited me out there,” he says over the phone. “I wanted to record again. I got the studio and I started making the album.

Emmy-nominated animated program “Entergalactic” is set amid a vibrant New York City. Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi voices Jabari, a graffiti artist who has just moved into a new Manhattan apartment after being hired by a comic book company.
He’s just broken up with his ex, Carmen (voiced by Laura Harrier), because he’s too busy to have a personal relationship until he meets his neighbor, Meadow (voiced by Jessica Williams).
In building Jabari’s world, production designer Robh Ruppel created a “blank canvas” for his loft since the character has just moved in. The walls are white, boxes still fill the room, and Jabari’s bike sits against a wall. However, as the story progresses, those boxes become fewer and the space stars to become more personal. Ruppel’s key was how he used color. “You can’t have it everywhere,” he says. “To show a sad evening alone,...

Pharrell Williams never expected to become the men’s creative director of Louis Vuitton.
It was announced in February that Williams was taking on the role after Virgil Abloh passed away on November 28, 2021.
In a new interview with GQ’s September Hype issue, Williams explained that the job offer came out of the blue while he was at his studio in Miami Beach last December.
Recalling how he heard from Louis Vuitton CEO Pietro Beccari, the hitmaker shared, “It wasn’t an interview or anything.
“It was like, ‘Will you accept this position? Will you accept this appointment?’ I’m looking at the water and I’m just like, ‘What?’”
The singer insisted, “I never thought that it would be me,” with him expecting the choice to be Nigo, his longtime friend and collaborator who currently heads Lvmh brand, Kenzo.

Sometimes, there comes a movie that is shot on a low budget, but with its riveting dialogue and seriously good acting, it keeps the viewer engaged throughout its entire runtime. Unfortunately, Hunt Club, directed by Elizabeth Blake-Thomas, is not that kind of low-budget movie. It’s apparent that the budget for the film was pretty tight, and they spent most of it getting Mena Suvari and Mickey Rourke on board. The major flaw of the film is the dialogue written by David Lipper and John Saunders. The lackluster acting and editing don’t help elevate the movie at all. Sure, there are campy slasher moments that provide some pulpy fun, but the film doesn’t live up to its decent plot.
The narrative revolves around Cassandra, who befriends a suave gentleman and his son and agrees to go on a unique hunting affair on an island after they tell her about the hefty prize money.

In 1993, "Tombstone" assembled a cast for the ages to tell the story of Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, and the legendary gunfight at the O.K. Corral. The throwback Western, led by Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer -- in what is perhaps Kilmer's best performance -- showcases a lot of tough guys in cowboy hats as it dramatizes real events that took place before and after the gunfight in Tombstone, Arizona, circa 1881. Special effects make the gunfight seem real, but thirty years later, in the age of "Ted Lasso," perhaps the most impressive effect on display in "Tombstone" is the mustaches, not the machismo.
As Earp, his brothers Virgil (Sam Elliot) and Morgan (Bill Paxton), and Holliday come walking over the hill on their way to the Corral, they all sport period-appropriate mustaches. So, too, do their enemies, the red-sashed Cowboys, led by "Curly Bill" Brocius (Powers Boothe) and Holliday's rival,...
