Rasha Mohamed is an Egyptian-American writer, producer, actress and and host of the health and wellness podcast, Unlearn Something Today. She speaks English, Arabic and French. Rasha's parents immigrated to California when she was seven years old. As an adult, she returned to the Motherland to live in Egypt, then moved to Dubai, before returning to her home in California.
She has written, produced and starred in award-winning short films. Her film, Jumper, was an official selection at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival Emerging Filmmaker Showcase and continues to win awards at international film festivals. She will be directing, for the first time, a short film that examines the lives of the families that continue to suffer from The War on Terror. She is also writing her first feature film and a pilot TV show.
Rasha was among the revolutionists in Tahrir Square in the 2011 Egyptian Revolution and covered the events as a journalist based in Cairo. Her experience as a Muslim-American immigrant female and her exposure to the world informs her storytelling as she weaves her experience in stories that promote social justice. Through her art, she wishes to create compelling, authentic and dimensional stories that can help us break barriers and cross cultural bridges.
Rasha holds a Master of Arts degree in Media, Communications and Journalism and has published studies on the images and portrayals of different cultures, including Arabs and Muslims, in American media.
Her theater experience includes: Scenes from 71* Years by Hannah Khalil; The Motherfucker with the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis; Kiss by Guillermo Calderon, and others.
As an avid risk-taker, she climbed Half Dome Mountain in Yosemite to cure her acrophobia. It worked. When she's not making films or hosting podcasts, she loves to play tennis, write poetry, hike and read anything she gets her hands on.
